This sucks, King had a good chance to see big league time this season. It’s almost a rite of passage for Yankee pitching prospects to get to the brink of MLB and then go “poof”...Which is probably true of other franchises pitching prospects, too. Sometimes I wonder where the actual pitchers that are pitching now came from...and where future pitchers will come from...

My favorite of these was the guy (name escapes me at the moment) who came into camp and Jorge came up firing to 2nd, nailed him in the elbow and he was done. Was it Mike Jerzembeck?

According to a random thread on nyyfans you are correct:
He spent six weeks at the start of the 1997 season at Norwich, before moving to Columbus where he had his finest year as a pro, finishing seventh in the International league in ERA, (3.59) and fifth among league starters in strikeouts per nine innings pitched (8.15). And this year, in Spring training, he was prepared to compete for a spot on the Yankees roster when he was struck in the right elbow by an errant throw by catcher Jorge Posada.

Good catch, guys...One of the all-time weird injuries, though Chris Brown’s “slept with an eyelash turned inside out” is going to be forever hard to beat...

Anyone remember Henry Cotto? He once injured himself while he was cleaning out his ear with a Q-Tip and a teammate bumped into him.

Speaking of classic injuries this just popped up:
Brandon Nimmo gives himself food poisoning trying to cook chicken, is a Met to the core

I imagine Mike Jerzembeck is sitting in a bar somewhere, maybe the bar where Zoolander visits his dad at the coal mine. And on TV instead of the Zoolander Merman commercial, there’s a story about Posada going to work with Jeter. And Jorge is all smiling and in the background is his hot wife and maybe a Ferrari. And Jerzembeck slams his beer down and storms off.

Didn't John Smoltz once injure himself while ironing his shirt--while he was still wearing it?
