Here comes the Calvary! Sound the charge! It’s beginning to look like Cashman was right again!... You mean about how good our starting rotation is?

Here comes the Calvary! Sound the charge! It’s beginning to look like Cashman was right again!... You mean about how good our starting rotation is? I haven’t seen anyone folks were clamoring for do anything that has made me wish we would have given up anything of value for them... So if we would have “upgraded” and wound up with more of the same, would that have really helped? The problem is more one of expectation. All pitching staffs are being strafed this summer...

Are the dodgers? I don't pay much attention to the NL, but they are like 19 games up.

I did not say we could not beat them. I said its difficult with a thin pitching staff. I hold to the old wisdom that pitching is more important in play offs

The typical WS winner has an ERA+ of 110, and an OPS + of 105. There are plenty of exceptions, like the Giants from a couple of years ago that had an OPS + of 86, and an ERA + of 121. Note that the total of the two was + 206. In one way or another, the team is likely to dominate on one side of the ball, but is most likely a balanced team that can score and can also reduce runs against...Despite the way it instinctively feels when we watch Yankee games, this is a decently balanced teams. Half our games are in a high run scoring environment, not to mention that we also play in Baltimore and Boston. It’s easy to leave the environment out of the equation. Easy, but not smart...

Our old pal David Robertson has thrown only 6 2/3 innings this season, but after Tommy John surgery will not only miss the rest of this season but next season, too.

Now Estrada is on the injured list. I swear, I’m going to be extra careful putting my Yankee cap on...

The 28th Yankee to hit the IL, comprising 34 separate stints. Estrada is such a vastly superior option to Tyler Wade, who has given only scant evidence of having major league ability. That 30 player IL mark should be a cinch. Not that I want it, but if you're going to break the records, break them with gusto.
