Post-season rosters change slightly depending upon opponent and pitching/position health. With the injuries to Hicks, Betances, Tauchman, etc., the choices become limited. I shall assume that Encarnacion and Stanton shall be back, as well as Sanchez and Sabathia. Moreover, I expect Montgomery will be saved for next season, and Cortes has just been too ineffective lately. If Encarnacion is not ready, then Ford is on. If Sabathia is not ready, then opponent shall decide between Tarpley for a loogy or Loaisiga for another power arm. Cessa and Happ become situational long men. Sabathia could be an opener or a lefty specialist. 1. Romine 2. Sanchez 3. Voit 4. LeMahieu 5. Torres 6. Gregorius 7. Urshela 8. Encarnacion 9. Gardner 10. Judge 11. Maybin 12. Wade 13. Stanton 14. Paxton 15. Tanaka 16. German 17. Severino 18. Happ 19. Chapman 20. Britton 21. Ottavino 22. Kahnle 23. Green 24. Cessa 25. Sabathia I'd go with this. Well done, Rizzuto. Maybe Loaisiga over Cessa if he keeps it up.

Betances may have just completed the most economical and perfect season in MLB history. I don’t get it. He did that little crow hop off the mound, but showed no other signs of injury. He was still laughing and clowning in the dugout... But... the team got this far without him, so if we must, well... you know the rest. Next man up doesn’t have to belong strictly to the lineup. It can also belong to the bullpen... Who will take his spot now? Loaisiga? Cessa? I like Loaisiga out of the pen. More than Cessa.

It probably got worse after he left the game and wouldn’t surprise me if he was having trouble walking by the end of the day.

I either had a small tear or bad sprain there once, but it’s been a long time ago. I do recall it not being fun, and I think the only real treatment was wearing one of those elastic socks for a week or two...

Don't see much point in having Happ on the roster. Ordinarily I would drop him and add a position player but with all our injuries(I miss Tauchman) I don't know who that would be.

He shut out Boston and Oakland and pitched decent against Detroit.

We need one of those clear-skinned statues of Happ, because he’s survived on little stuff for his entire career. Strictly feel and brains. It’s inside...

Sorry to say, but I'd take Happ over Sabathia if it comes down to it. Sabathia has been bad all year, is obviously pitching with knee problems and can't go but about two outings before having to have his knee drained yet again. ERA is right at 5.00. He's been a warrior but, sadly, he ain't got it anymore.

But I think they will take them both.

Probably would have been wiser just to not bring betances back.

Probably would have been wiser just to not bring betances back. Only if you had the foresight to have hind sight before the result was known. Dr: “Don’t let him throw in that Achilles’ tendon. It appears ready to get a minor tear any time. If he rests this winter, it will heal without tearing”...
