How has Stanton looked?

He’s 6’ 5”, about 235 pounds or so. Brownish skin, muscular body. His right eyebrow is a bit odd-looking, like it might have gotten burned off at some point... As per his baseball, I think he’s looked a bit rusty at the plate, but still has hit one bomb and some bullets. In the field, he’s looked fine. Hustling, strong throws. He looks happy to be off the Jacoby List, able to run and jump with the other millionaire children...

FSU and the Vikings won although FSU is a shadow of what it was in its hayday.

Edwin Encarnacion is hoping to return to the New York Yankees on Wednesday, and catcher Gary Sanchez could be back right after him. Encarnacion and Sanchez worked out at New York's minor league complex in Tampa on Monday's off day. Encarnacion is coming back from a strained left oblique, and Sanchez is rehabbing a strained left groin. The AL East champion Yankees, who are battling Houston and the Los Angeles Dodgers for the majors' best record, open a two-game series Tuesday night at wild-card contender Tampa Bay. Encarnacion ran, played catch and hit in an indoor cage. ''Felt good,'' the designated hitter said. ''No pain.'' Sanchez ran the bases, did some defensive work, and took batting practice in an indoor cage and also on the field. ''Everything I have done has gone well,'' Sanchez said through a translator. ''There have been no problems at all. We just have to wait to see how things go in the next couple of days.'' sports.yahoo.com/encarnaci%C3%B3n-s%C3%A1nchez-progressing-toward-return-233507872--mlb.html

I’ve seen black widows out here in Colorado. Not on my property at this point, but when I’ve been out and about. It’s also just now time for our tarantula mating season. Tarantulas usually live more in uninhabitable areas rather than around houses because they don’t like disturbances like lawn mowers, nor should distrubances and compaction like you find with home building, pipelines , septic tanks and such. The males get together in herds of thousands and march forward, looking for females to mate with. A large percentage of the males will die shortly after mating. Some are eaten by the appreciative female, some are simply exhausted and stop hunting for food...Sounds like the guys in my high school graduating class. And some of the girls, too...

I've heard horror stories of Black Widows hanging out in toilets. Imagine sitting down at a toilet about to your business when attacked by a Black Widow!

An educated guess would be that they would have been and still. E much more more apt to do that in the days of outhouses (some still exist out here in the mountains). They line dark places and are not opposed to dampness. When I’ve spotted them I’ve been on say, a front porch that was on the shady side of the house with a seldom-used front door. Mostly in the foothills of Colorado Springs where the temperature is moderate compared to here in Pueblo. I got close enough to confirm that they had the trademark red violin pattern on their lower abdomen. If you live in an area prone to them, they like to find dark places, like under furniture and that top shelf of the closet that you put stuff on you never use. They don’t normally bite humans unless we disturb their habitat. I would think that taking a dump on them would fit in the mildly disturbing category, but it would be very unlikely for one to set up a web in your toilet, they typically get a bit more activity than your black widow, or any spider would find attractive for a home. It would have to be a chance meeting... “Me and the missus, we built this web the other day see? Now, I told her that the spot was a little bright for my tastes, but she went on about it being a great place to raise the kids, and she had seen a waterfall in there. So me, like a dummy, I start building. Next thing you know, it’s like 4 AM and the lights come on, then it gets dark and windy. Two of the kids fell in the pond below. I bit the first thing I could find, and we evacuated. Haven’t seen those kids since the waterfall started running again”...

Oh, I forgot. I always look in my mailbox before reaching in for the mail. I use a flashlight at night. I have read that they will build in mailboxes...
I’m pretty gutsy and unafraid of most “creepy crawlies”. Even the one that was in our bed the other night (still have no clue what that was), but I do try to not take unnecessary chances with nature...
