LOL, whats with your overestimated love of Ford inger? I thought you were joking at first. Offer him straight up for Bumgarner and the Giants would laugh at you. Ford is not a top prospect by any stretch of the imagination. Inger has him confused with Whitey Ford. I make those cross-generational mistakes myself. Hey Inger, remember Disco Dan Ford, the OFer with the Orioles and several other teams? That nickname forever brands the era he played in. LOL, Disco Dan Ford. That's a great nickname.

Disco Dan was actually a pretty decent player. There was a song out in his heyday called "Disco Duck." That probably contributed to the cheesy nickname.

There was also the Yanks leading single season winner, Russ Ford who once had a 26-7 season in wee early days...Who’d a thunk it when we were kids?... Oh well. If you guys don’t like it that I have a “secret source” on the City Municipal Board that have lunch on my lawn as my neighbors marvel at having 337 trash trucks and a converted out of service sea barge lining the avenues in the area, I get the jealousy... I suppose I’ll give in and move Ford down to second tier, but I like him. I like him a lot. I guess more than youse guys, heh?...

While we're piling on inger: how's your boy LeClerc doing? Not too well huh with that nearly 5 ERA?

Like eohippus to the horse. Jack Chesbro, Ray Caldwell, Russ Ford. They were all hors d'oeuvres before the main course.

if you watch youngsters as they develop, all of us probably have had guys that have jumped out for some reason, and did not become what they showed flashes of being.....in my imagination, a young inger playing a hardnosed CF, hitting line drives roped somewhere, and always hustling might have caught my eye....I wish I could have seen him play...

I once had a Phillies fan tell me that I played like Lenny Dykstra. I was slightly insulted. I would be more insulted if someone suggested I was like Dykstra in day to day living. My fault of being a dead-pull hitter would have jumped right out at you. I wanted the lines, a bit to greedy for the home run. It almost took a gun to my head to get me to swing at anything outside...I crowded the plate to the point that if there was no batter’s box, my toes were only an inch from the plate. When I got HBP, I enjoyed getting on base and stood just as close the next time. I was a good player amongst poor players. The next level would have exposed that...

Didn't realize Edwin is having such a good season with Mariners. He leads MLB in HR, .888 OPS, ranked 23rd in Offense by fangraphs, and given his age, can be managed here due to the depth to be fresh down the stretch.
Cashman got to re-tool in 2016, club showed it's potential in 2017, had a great regular season in 2018 but ran into a buzzsaw, 2019 begins a period to get greedy personnel wise. Dodgers have done a great job rotating guys in and out of the lineup, it's a new era of doing things around MLB. Think Edwin gives them a great veteran presence moving forward. Cashman should go all-in and try to pull a big SPer, but gonna be interesting to see the costs.
