I got tired of the circular shit last night when bunting was the issue for the 99,000th time. I actually enjoy Russ, but right now he seems to be playing us. As he said, “his role” here is to present contrary viewpoints to increase post totals. Um. No. Not really.
We all have to struggle to keep from being boorish atbtimes, right? Except for me, of course... right? ... right guys? Anybody still here? Guys? Guys???
They must all have had to go to the pot at the same time. They’ll be back...

On the bright side, this has been a distraction from a painful Yankee loss.

I recall when Mo when seemingly go through a short slump or two each season. The older he got, the more the doom and gloom era would begin to pick at his carcass. Like any team, or any athlete for that matter, no one is as good as they are when they’re at the top of their game, not as bad as they look when they’re out of sorts. Chapman has indeed been in a down cycle of late. That makes it convenient for folks who draw quick conclusions to condemn him. I have concerns that he is no longer finding that 104-105 MPH range, seldom even the 101 we saw tonight. He’s obviously worked hard to reinvent himself, and his results have been a pleasant surprise to me. If we choose to cry about not having the next Mariano, we’ll probably cry for a long time... Poor game management in my estimation. Base open with two outs, two strikes and you throw a pitch middle away, which is exactly where d’Arnaud hit home runs against three different Yankee pitchers: Green, Paxton (twice), and Chapman. Chapman has plenty velocity and stuff, but on a full count with the game on the line he threw his second best pitch in the worst spot against a very hot hitter. Lots of mental mistakes in that paragraph.

Yea it was just poor game management I totally agree I get the Yankees are still quite a bit up but this one just stung a lot even the announcers post game were kinda in disbelief. Chapman's save percentage overall is pretty good as Kaybli has shown we are just used to years of mo making it look easy. Sometimes with Chapman he will give up base runners but more often than not he comes across with the successful save.

The back and forth on percentages of saves while serving only as the Yankees full-time closer while trying to extrapolate future blown saves was the funniest thing I think I have ever read on this forum. It sure took some of the sting out of a very tough loss.
It sort of reminded me of the kind of arguments Oliver Wendell Douglas and Lisa Douglas would have on "Green Acres." Or an old Burns and Allen routine. Thanks for brightening my day, even though it would have been exasperating when you all were going through it.

If I hadn't already marched off to bed in an angry snit, I would have been right in there with you guys, rummaging around in baseballref and calculating percentages for John Wetteland and Goose Gossage and Sparky Lyle and Luis Arroyo clear back to Joe Page. What really cracked me up was when after digging up mountains of evidence you realized that Noetsi was nowhere in sight, his mission accomplished!

Plus, I was really annoyed by last night's loss and posting while you're angry probably isn't a good idea.

Chapman explaining last night's pitch selection. You aren't going to surprise him if you keep throwing slider after slider. Use that 101 mph fastball up and in!

It's a bad loss...it is surprising how hard the last three outs, particularly the last, are to get sometimes....it goes with the charm of baseball in that it's never over until it's over...
I hate that the great night by Edwin resulted in a loss...he is a bit streaky, I think...so maybe he will carry the team for awhile..
Paxton was solid, after his usual shaky first inning...and Gio continues to look Nettle-ish at third...we are one of the best teams in baseball, and I am having a great time watching..
