49, 30, 48, 51... those are the pitch counts for Tarpley in his prior four outings. I’m going to proclaim him the team sacrificial lamb... What’s odd is that Boone has taken a fellow who entered the game with an ERA of 8.31 and put him front and center early in a game...I guess all we can say is... “That’s our Boonie”... I have to say, it is confounding at times in any one game but when you step back and see how Boone overall has managed the workloads in the pen and especially since he’s finished his infatuation with Holder, he’s been pretty masterful in managing workloads and putting the best pitchers in the highest leverage spots. |

He should have been brought in to start the inning...I really think Boone was trying to get a third inning out of Tarpley. Might have worked if that ball hit toward Didi was 4-5 inches lower... |

I was surprised to see Tarpley back out there for third inning when he was almost at 60 pitches. Your asking an inexperienced pitcher to do something he's not used to doing against major league hitters. I wasn't surprised it didn't work. |
