The ESPN Gameday crew is in Lincoln for their pregame show. They must think it's going to be a decent game. Ohio State is a popular team nationally, highly ranked, and favored by 17 points on the road. I would be surprised if it’s close but would immensely prefer it, since LSU is off this week and the Yankees are blacked out here. In other words, I’ll be watching this one. Ugly....31-0 before the half. I'm glad I'm watching baseball.

CFB needs to expand the playoffs asap, it's gonna be the same 4-6 teams year after year now that conferences/TV have rigged the scheduling.
Ideally the sport would:
1. Find someone unbiased and rational enough to head the sport and implement balanced scheduling nationwide. 2. Year to year rotating non-conference matchups where conferences play conferences (ala CBB with ACC/B1G challenge, then ACC plays SEC the following year and so on based off previous year's W/L records.) This would help with knowing who can beat who, and not just going by heresay and hype. 3. A real playoff format with home field to better seeds like FCS, DII, and DIII have, so every team has a rational path to the tournament.
Fat chance, I know.

I agree that the NCAA needs a standardized schedule. Right now the Big Ten, PAC 12 & Big 12 play 9 conference games, while the ACC & SEC only play 8. 8 or 9, all the major conferences should be playing the same amount of games within the conference.
Also, expand the playoffs to 8 teams with 5 conference champions and 3 wild card teams, with at least one of wild card teams not being a non power 5 conference team or Notre Dame, so the underdog, smaller conferences get at least one team in the tournament. I think an eight team playoff would be more popular than basketball's March Madness and would make absurd amounts of money for the NCAA and these greedy power five conferences. A side benefit would be we would see teams scheduling tougher non-conference schedules since a non-conference or two wouldn't keep you out of the playoffs if you win your conference championship. That said, I doubt we see any of this anytime soon. Change is really slow in the world of college football.

lol, so you're saying you are a little excited? It sucks that the Yankee game will be on at the same time as the prime time college football games.

I can always watch the archived Yankee game on MLB At Bat. Plus, it’s a best of seven game series. LSU plays Florida only once a year and both are in the top ten! Number #5 and #7 at night in Death Valley! 104,000 screaming fans!

Rizz, although I have no stake one way or the other with the Bayou Bengals, your honest enthusiasm is contagious and I will be pulling for them.
I am old enough to remember the days of Paul Dietzel and his so-called "Chinese Bandits" and Billy Cannon's famous punt return against Ole Miss -- on Halloween if memory serves. Love Saturday night games from there and the yard markers every five yards. I never did know the story behind that.

Love Saturday night games from there and the yard markers every five yards. I never did know the story behind that. Thanks, Pipps! Your memory is correct! It was Halloween. Another famous game was the last-second Bert Jones touchdown pass in 1972 against Ole Miss. LSU was down 16–10 with four seconds left in the game, when Jones threw an incomplete pass. Surprisingly, the clock still showed one second remaining! LSU used the last second of the game for a touchdown pass from Bert Jones to Brad Davis. According to Ole Miss lore, a sign was put up at the Louisiana–Mississippi border reading "You are now entering Louisiana. Set your clocks back four seconds. Regarding the five yard markers: some say it’s just tradition; others that we can’t count by tens. But, I believe it’s a vestige of early football rules, in which a team had three downs to go five yards. The rules changed in 1912: torontosun.com/2012/02/02/college-football-a-different-game-century-ago/wcm/60a38e5f-5e6b-45bb-bcf2-43e02c481bca

Great stories. I remember Bert Jones very well, especially with the Colts. I also remember David Woodley from LSU. One of the all-time great LSU players was running back Jim Taylor of Green Bay Packers fame.
I also recall QB Mike Miley, who opted to be a major league SS but died tragically young in an auto accident. One of many Angels players who died during their active career.
It's easy to forget (although certainly not by you) Nick Saban's time at LSU. I remember Charlie McClendon being head coach for many years after Dietzel.

(I face him in Fantasy of course) He may not play tomorrow. Hurt his ankle at practice on Thursday, didn’t practice on Friday, and is listed as questionable for the game.
