Alex Rodriguez
In 2007, when he hit .314 .422 .645 with 54 HR and drove in 156 to join the ranks of MVPs with at least 150 RBIs.
When he won the MVP in 2003 he became the only AL player to snag the award for a last place team.
Rodriguez had 125 run, 125 RBI seasons for 3 teams, Seattle, Texas, and New York. I don’t know if any other player to do that.
In 1997 he won a Tiger’s fan a million dollars by hitting for the cycle on a night that she had selected by a radio contestant in the unlikely event that someone hit for the cycle in the June 5 contest. Probably the only time a fan ever loved the wretch in his life.
It’s too bad that it’s hard to find joy in any of the other “moments” in his career because he too often revealed his enormous ego and was an obvious cheater during his career.
After posting this one, I feel I need a shower… I promise not to kiss myself in the mirror when I emerge…

Damn! When I saw myself in the mirror, I admit I was tempted to kiss the mirror. I didn’t, and the mirror winked at me. Yeah. I winked back…

Lou Gehrig had his 150+ RBI MVP season for the great 1927 Yankees team, knocking in 173 runs.
His average RBI production per season 1926-1938 was 147 (average!). During that 13-year run, he led MLB 4 X & the AL once. Four of those totals are among the top 12 all-time. In 1931 his 185 RBI, set the all-time AL record for a season.
In his 3rd season (but 1st full season), in a game Washington, D.C., on 24-Jun-1925, in the 7th inning, off Allen Russell / Muddy Ruel, Gehrig walked, moved to 3rd on a single by teammate Wally Shang then, for the 1st SB of the 102 in his career, stole home as part of a double steal…

Jimmie Foxx was the first MLB player to hit a pinch grand slam homer in both leagues. He did so 14 seasons apart, 1931 and 1945.
Foxx has the record for the most base hits in a season with 50 or more HR, he hit 58 HR and had 213 hits in 1932. He also has the 8th most hits on a 50 homer season with 50 and 197 in 1938.
# 2 on the list is Hack Wilson with 56/208 in 1930, # 3 is Babe Ruth with 59/204 in 1921.
The next 3 such seasons don’t count because they were achieved via cheating. Then, George Foster is at #7 with his 52/197 of 1977.
If you’re curious about Judge, last year he was at #20 (including several cheaters ahead of him) at 62/177. There are at least 9 seasons of cheaters ahead of him.
The lowest number of hits belongs to cheating Mark McGwire. He also had the second lowest and 4 of the bottom 7. Disgusting…

Inger wanted me to post this. Hope you had a good anniversary inger!:
My dinner (in styrofoam). Shrimp with pasta and marina. Sadly the cook made shrimp fettuccini instead. I was kind and let him just add the marinara, so it sort of made it a runny, but it wasn’t too bad. Typical to Colorado, they were very tight with the shrimp. Only 4 medium sized, but very tasty shrimp. It also came with garlic bread.
Ruthie only wanted pizza 🍕. She got it “her way” including stuff I don’t want on my pizza, so she has some leftovers that she brought home to eat in front of me.
I’m sure my sugar is high. Going in to check.
The other photos are from our wayward drive home. We made a close approach to Mt Blanca from the south.
The old buildings were a surprise that I found within 6-8 minutes from our house. I love that the pioneer relics stand in many places throughout this state…

Nice pix Inger. Beautiful country and a wonderful part of the world. The house needs a little cosmetic work.

I’m duty bound (I suppose) to mention that Sammy Sosa cheated his way to an MVP his 158 RBI season in 1998. He had a 4- year stretch where cheating helped him to 243 HR. The only player with more in a 4- year stretch also cheated. That was Mark McGuire.
Another of Sosa’s “accomplishments” was eclipsing a record previously held by Ernie Banks for the most RBI differential between one player and the next on the same team. In 1959, Banks led the majors with 143 RBI, 91 more than teammate Bobby Thomson’s 52. In 2001, Sosa’s MLB-leading 160 RBI put a distance of 94 more than teammate Rickey Gutierrez’ 66.
Before all the shenanigans with PEDS began I used to see Sosa as an underdog. I liked him and hoped he could develop his game to a higher level. To his credit as a human being he was cited by the Clintons for his humanitarian work in his native Dominican in the wake of devastating hurricanes. At least there was some redeeming value to the money he earned through his cheating. A measure of decency.
Then, the last volley, the last I heard from him was his photo with lightened skin, wearing a pink suit and a fedora. He’s a different sort of man…

Tequila just whisperd in my ear that she and some of her wainged friends are about to offer Six Billion Pounds of Seeds for the Yanke4es and that I (Do Me) will be GM with Rizz & Kay as duel Managers and Inger as Head Cheerleader and in charge of IT. Now mind you just a rumor.

Better let Kaybli handle IT. Everything electronic that Inger touches asks for a credit card.
