Roll on, Bobby B. … It was a stupid contract for Bonilla and his agent but a smart one by the Met's ownership at the time. Unless Bonilla is getting paid a high interest rate for these deferred payments and i doubt he is, he lost a ton of money by not getting paid while he was playing and being able to invest it all these years. Even a low risk investment over time would have made a great return with the money we're talking about. |

The Mets guaranteed Bonilla 8% interest based on the 10% interest they were guaranteed by Bernie Madoff. Bonilla was only owned $5.9M at the time.
