Someone asked AI what Gleyber will be like if he gets a contract extension:
Hopefully if that's the case it will happen for another team:

Note for Chi who I believe is a Pittsburgh Penguins fan -- did you notice that Jaromir Jagr has started his 36th professional season with the Kladno Knights of the Czech Hockey League? I guess it doesn't hurt that he owns the team. Somewhere in that great penalty box in the sky Gordie Howe is nodding in approval. chiyankee

That's the reason Jagr isn't in the hockey hall of fame yet, he hasn't retired. The Penguins are finally going to retire Jagr's number later this season, a much deserved honor. He will only be the third person to have his number retired by the team, Mario and some guy who died in a car accident after his rookie season are the only others.

I'm surprised that they've only retired two jerseys, but then again some of their best players ever are still around, like Crosby and Malkin and Letang. I'm a bit surprised that guys like Rick Kehoe, who had all the scoring records pre-Lemieux, or Ron Francis or Jean Pronovost or Kevin Stevens haven't had numbers retired. When I think of early Penguins the first name I think of is Syl Apps. Probably a bit too far back for you.

In addition to the three you mentioned, Crosby, Malkin and Letang, I think Marc Andre-Fluery will also have his number retired. Fluery is still extremely popular in Pittsburgh. You mentioned Ron Francis, he might be the most underrated great hockey player of all time. The Penguins became a true Stanley Cup contender when they stole him from Hartford.

Yeah, Fleury has to be their best goalie ever. It would have been Barrasso before him, but he's far surpassed Barrasso as a Penguin. Yep, Apps was from the blue and white uniform era. As for Ron Francis -- for sure he was a great one. For several years my brother, cousin and I used to meet in Hartford (it was roughly equidistant for each of us) on Super Bowl weekend to watch the Whalers. They played in a mall attached to a Sheraton Hotel so you could just walk down from your room and go past the Spencer's Gifts and Chick-Fil-A and Kay-Bee Toy and Hobby right into the arena. They had Francis and Pat Verbeek and Kevin Dineen and Mike Liut, if you remember those names. The Pens seemed to do a lot of business with the Flyers in those days. Rick Tocchet, Mark Recchi, Ken Wregget and I am sure others.

Yeah, Things Remembered, So-Fro Fabrics, Sam Goody's, Sbarro, Foot Locker, The Gap, Ups N Downs, Perle Vision Center -- I'm never quite sure how many of them were truly national as opposed to regional for Mall Rats. Remember a mall shoe store called Athlete's Foot? Now there's an attractive name, right? B Dalton, Waldenbooks, General Nutrition Center, Radio Shack, Hickory Farms, The Hair Cuttery. The dreary list never ends.

The dreary list never ends. There’s a Sbarro in our local Loaf & Jug gas station/ C-Store, and Pueblo had two GNC stores. I used to buy my whey protein there before we moved. I’m surprised Alamosa doesn’t have one of those since it’s a college town… I wonder how many indoor malls are still thriving? The outlet malls were a big deal for a while too… the last time I went to the one near Perryville, MD it was a ghost town. I think there were over twenty spaces there with only 2-3 still open…
