I was thinking more of Mattingly. Mauer is a first ballot HOF but Donnie still can't get in? The had similar careers in where their greatness was cut short. In my opinion, Mauer was always the Mattingly of Catchers. Great hitting and great defense. Donnie, Guidry and Munson will get in the HOF through the Veterans Committee vote. |

It's too bad that Bill White and Piniella just missed getting voted in. In my opinion, Billy Martin should also be in the Hall of Fame.

Adrian Beltre, Joe Mauer and Todd Helton elected to Baseball Hall of Fame. I know i will get flack and hate for this but mauer in the hof and posada isnt , makes little to no sense to me I'm sorry but Posada can't hold a candle to Mauer's defensive skills behind the plate. I sometimes wonder what Yankees MLB Catching Coach Bill Dickey would have thought of his catching skills. He handle everyone from Yogi Berra to Munson and Ellis in 1970. Clipper |

I know i will get flack and hate for this but mauer in the hof and posada isnt , makes little to no sense to me I'm sorry but Posada can't hold a candle to Mauer's defensive skills behind the plate. I sometimes wonder what Yankees MLB Catching Coach Bill Dickey would have thought of his catching skills. He handle everyone from Yogi Berra to Munson and Ellis in 1970. Clipper
What I remember most about Ellis when he was playing for the Yankees was the big fight the Yankees got into with the Indians, I lost count on how many players he punched.

What I remember most about Ellis was the big fight the Yankees got into with the Indians, I lost count on how many players he punched.
Johnny was a big guy, someone who wanted on your side in a fight. In the Yankees spring training camp of 1970, he had beaten out Munson for the James P. Dawson Award for being best Yankee Rookie in camp. Munson would him 1 better, by winning the 1970 AL Rookie of the Year Award. Clipper |

I feel that Elston Howard was HOF Catcher compared to Posada, who was more bat than behind the plate glove skills. Sanchez was a butcher boy behind the plate, GM Cashman and the Yankees front office fell in love with his bat and ignore his lack of defensive skills. He doesn't belong in any discussion concerning the Hall of Fame. Clipper |

As for Piazza (who I never liked much) ... Posada was a good hitting catcher, but Piazza was a great hitting catcher. |
