Sorry to get the news late. We spent the day in the mountains. Then we wound up getting a flat tire at 11,000 feet with about an hour of daylight to go. That is not what you want at the elevation and with dwindling light and heat. As fortune would have it, before I had really even got my tools together to change the tire, a GMC Yukon pulled up and four guys in their thirties hopped out and just took over. They were like a pit crew with one guy pulling the spare out from under the truck while another was loosening the lug nuts and another was getting the jack set to raise the truck. It was like a blur. Then they insisted we leave ahead of them so they could follow us down the mountain to make sure we’d be safe. It was really cool... I got names and one address so I can send them something nice for helping us. They didn’t want anything, but it’ll be in the twenties tonight up on that mountain...And sure, I’d have gotten the tire changed, but... wow!... Pretty adventurous stuff inger! Not bad for an old man! [img alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/udcwFqPimnXDtjoTmoVL.gif" class="smile"]
That was nice of those guys to help you out!
We went over three mountain passes in one day. Two were over 12,000 feet and the other one was over 11,000. We had just crested the second one, which was the only unpaved one of the three when we had the flat. The rocks that are strewn on that road are broken by the graders that dress the road, and many sort of shatter into triangular pieces. I haven’t examined the corpse of the now deceased tire yet for a cause of death, but I strongly suspect a rock puncture. We had also been to a cemetery at an old barely inhabited mining town called Tincup, so it’s also possible we picked up a nail or some other debris there, and the flat was from a slow leak, but... I think it was the rocks. It was amazing to see that old time cemetery and see the “ways” Frazier m those times. Each religion had it’s own “section”. Segregated even in death...

Now get your head in the game, inger! You better be watching the games Friday and Saturday! And posting here!

Don’t tell Ruthie... heh heh)... That second pass has rather expansive views once you break the tree line. The road gets quite narrow in places and the drop offs are severe without guard rails. I was only driving at 8-12 MPH due to the road conditions, but she was getting pretty scared for a while. Then, just as the “best, or worst for her” was over... pssst! Flat tire. What a blast!...

Maybe I underestimated this Rays team. Maybe if they hang on they can challenge the Astros with Morton, Snell and Glasnow? It will be a travesty to have playoffs games in the Trop Dump though.

Sounds like the end of the line for the Big Guy.

The only problem is I don't think Glasnow and Snell can give them much length looking at their previous starts coming back from injury. But all they have to do is win one in Houston and then they have Morton going at home versus Greinke and it gets very interesting!

Sounds like the end of the line for the Big Guy. Sad.
And I won't be able to make the CC eating Twinkies photoshop now.

Quirky is an excellent word to use in describing the Rays...I agree that they’re dangerous...They never really faded this season. The Yankees just played so well that playing well behind them wasn’t enough...

You can still make it, CC with there, in the dugout, eating Twinkies.
