This series everyone seems to be focusing on the home run bats. I’m thinking about the defense of the two teams. I see the Yankees as solid to very good all the way around, expecting that for the most part, we’ll have DJLM at first base.
I don’t know much about how CJ Cron handles himself at first. I do know that Sano is no match for Urshela at third and that losing Buxton in CF in favor of Max Kepler or Jake Cave is certainly not an improvement for the Twins. Mitch Garver may be hitting like Sanchez, but he doesn’t throw line Sanchez, nor is he as good at blocking balls and framing pitches.
As it is, Minnesota allowed a LOT more unearned runs than the Yankees did in 2019. I forget the exact number, but I think it was about thirty more. Like I said. A LOT.
So yes. Baseballs will fly. The weather is cooling off, so maybe not as many will fly as some think. The difference in this series may be how many are in base when the baseballs do fly. The difference also might be a few extra runs that score when the ball stays in the park...

While Luke has been unlucky, Tier One Prospect Mike Ford is hitting like Babe Ruth. I'll take Princeton Boy.

They don't let Ivey league types play in the play offs. What would Cobb and Ruth say about it?

I'm a big fan of LUUUUUKE but I see the advantages of playing the hot hand. Edwin at DH, DJ at 1B, Ford a PH for.... Edwin? If the Parrot (not Tequila) is in any way injured, I'd have Voit on the roster instead though... but I suspect Voit is still injured from the hernia.

If Voit and Edwin are on the roster, Ford won’t be playing much which calls into question why he’s on the roster. It doesn’t make sense to take him just to possibly pinch hit.

I fear that Edwin will still be susceptible to re-injury. I believe Voit is trying to hide his injury. Ford is at least healthy, so in my mind, he needs to be there. In fact, I’d be more inclined to start Ford...and use Edwin for the pinch hitter type...

Great, now hopefully we'll never have to use him unless we are blowing them out!

Thanks for posting. I wish the article analyzed Voit vs. Ford. Whereas Voit may have run into bad luck since returning from injury, Ford has been hitting and slugging.

Great, now hopefully we'll never have to use him unless we are blowing them out! I like the addition of his stuff and FB. To me he’s sort of like Cessa. He tantalizes during hot stretches, but needs to figure out how to maintain his stuff on a regular basis. He could be really a handy guy to get an out or two with a couple of free-swingers coming up...

Padilla is not exactly an embraceable homeland hero.

You must have some arrogance to compete at this level.
