I'm really surprised given everything Hal said about staying under the payroll threshold. I wouldn't have done it but there's no question it improves the team considerably for this season. In the short term it will be great. Putting Stanton on this team is going to increase revenue substantially. His contract is already paid for in a sense. But this lineup now, my God... Get us some pitching, we have the prospects. [ I don’t believe that could possibly be true, but even if it were it doesn’t impact the payroll tax issue which is calculated off of AAV. |

I would rather keep the young guy Frazier here and he plays LF. I like Gardner but in keeping with the youth movement, maybe trade Gardy later on in the year? We have some great prospects to trade though, just hope we hold onto the pitchers we have. Dynasty is just about here. Good point. Maybe keep Frazier and trade Gardner. Not a bad idea! Frazier has a long way to go to be able to match Gardner in offense or defense. However they likely will need to move both offs and payroll so I could definitely see Gardner or Hicks being moved. |

I hope Gardner is retained. We need to keep his skill set and the example he's set by working hard and over achieving...I've said for years that I would like to see Gardner eventually transitioned to a four outfielder role and play out his career as legacy New York Yankee, provided he is good with the transition. If he reaches a point where he feels he must start and the Yankees disagree, then by all means, he'll have to go at that point. I was rather surprised that Ellsbury recently made the statement that he wanted to stay on the Yankees even if it meant being a reserve...So far I've not seen anything that suggests that losing Gardner for Cashman's Guy or for Frazier is a good idea...
Who pulled the little trick on this site that won't allow H-I-C-K-S' name to used? It always gets auto-edited to "Cashman's Guy"...

I'm so thrilled Stanton is a Yankee. Looking forward to him and Judge mashing taters for the next 3+ years.. Look out Boston!!! Yankees now favorites for AL East... if they weren't already.
