Sevy will be up to the challenge, especially at home. Just no tipping pitches, and no taking out successful starters early with solid pitch counts.

Given how long they let Severino go last time I think they let him hang for 6 maybe even 7 innings and 80-90 pitches if he’s sharp. If he isn’t sharp or if they know what’s coming, he won’t be in there very long.
As good as the result was last time his FB command was not good. So I am actually hoping for an even better result tonight and I think he’s capable of matching Cole.
What we need is better ABs from our lineup. A bunch of the guys did not put up competitive ABs in Sunday against the Houston bullpen. That can’t happen again if we are going to win this game.

Based on Game 2 it looked to me that both Verlander and Paxton were both quite possibly doing this. My feeling is that it is pervasive particularly with the change in the balls this year and that umps are ignoring it unless pitchers are so clumsy about it that they’re showing umps up about it. I think every team knows it is happening including their own pitchers. |
