Grandal cashes in and signs with the White Sox. Glad he didn't go to any of our direct rivals though the White Sox have the potential to be good next year. |

James McCann was the White Sox catcher in 2019. He’s a bat-first catcher that terrorized the league the first two months last year, then slowed down. He still wound up at .273 with 18 HR, despite a .226 average after game one of a double header on 7/3. That was mostly due to a .173 average in June. He’s a viable option to back up Grandal as well as to replace Yonder Alonso, who DH’d 42 games with horrible results for the ChiSox.
Grandal is likely expected to help keep Giotto on track. He started out very strong, but faded a bit down the stretch. Also Reynaldo Lopez failed to develop as expected. Most of the staff is in the development stage, so addressing the catching by going defense-first was likely a smart move on the part of the White Sox...

HEY... we're having a problem with getting youth into baseball...
Lets get rid of some minor league teams... you know, the stadiums you can bring your kids to cheaply for them to experience the game of baseball...
