The Mets are signing Wacha and Porcello. Porcello should be paying teams to let him pitch at this point... Porcello has had that weird every-other-year thing going for seven years now. Starting with 2013, his ERA+ has alternated being over and under 100. Which means if he keeps following the script he should be over 100 in 2020. However, his bad years are trending worse and his good years are less good. Dude still only turns 31 in a few weeks and will be entering his twelfth full season in the major leagues. And he almost never gets hurt. The fewest innings he has pitched in any season is 162 in his second year. I've always found this guy interesting in his bland, plughorse way. He has 149 victories, so if he stays healthy for a few more years he could shoot over the 200 win mark, an increasingly rare achievement in this era. I get it that victories are not necessarily the greatest measure of a pitcher's effectiveness, but they aren't completely worthless either, especially if they are compiled consistently year after year. Porcello is essentially an average starter who has pitched mostly for teams that scored a lot of runs and who is available to pitch every five days. He's a decent back of the rotation guy on a good team. So glad I'm not a Mets fan. You're looking at Porcello and Wacha (who to be fair has had his moments) while the Yankees are snaring Gerrit Cole.

At least the Mets already have Noah and Jacob. There must an ark joke in there somewhere... I guess I’m just not a great biblical humorist...

The Mets also have a Seth (Lugo). In the Old Testament, Seth was the brother of Cain and Able. If the Mets sign Lorenzo Cain, we will know something epic is afoot.

Still remember when Jesus Alou was around and poor Brooks Robinson would pronounce his name in the traditional biblical way instead of the Hispanic way. I guess all of us kids did at first, too. The ways of Hispanics were still a mystery to most of America at that time...

The Brewers get a pitcher. I remember when Anderson was with the Cubs and faced the Yanks in a game at Wrigley and gave up like 9 runs in the first inning.

I don't know if Romine left because he wanted to start but we very well could have kept him on the one year deal Detroit gave him. Unless Cole wants Maldonado.

You would have to assume the opportunity to start was a big deal. If he does that even at an average level this year he sets himself up for a big contract.

Best backup catcher around!

Best backup catcher around! Romine had a good year with the bat in 2019, it will be interesting to see if he can repeat that in 2020.

Congrats to Mr. Romine.. I read that the Yanks were looking to get Maldonado for Cole.. which wouldn't be such a bad thing.. I don't remember seeing him play last season , but thought he was pretty good on D with the Angels. Wonder if Romines gonna bring up the little brawl to Miggy lol.
