All of that is true, yet none of them will prove to be crucial to continued success. Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge remain to fill much of the void, and this will allow others the opportunity to grow and fill the rest...Maybe big Luke Voit can become one of the new leaders... Judge is the face of the franchise; his frame casts the long shadow since his 52 homer rookie season. My remarks were not lamenting the loss of leadership necessarily, just simply reflecting on the positive qualities of those three individuals while they were in Pinstripes......especially in juxtaposition to the most recent video chapter in the bizarre Antonio Brown saga. A healthy, relaxed Voit. He seemed uptight last year. What happened to the “happy-to-have-a-chance” enthusiasm and positivity? He had some slog-worthy at bats, in which he watched too many gut-shot strikes for strike three. |
