Just going by stats, he didn't have his first elite season until age 30... during the PED era... when he happened to join Bonds in San Fran.. I know they didn't get along but... yeah... suspicious.. PED suspicion is strong. Was disliked by many players and nasty with reporters. Was a DH playing 2nd Base, which never made sense to me. No to Jeff Kent...

He was suspected of PED use before I alluded to it? LOL I really know nothing about this guy... which in itself, makes him not Hall worthy, in my opinion.

Jeter and Walker make the Hall.. Schilling falls short. Think Schilling makes it next year? His last year old the ballot. I think he should.

I boldly predict Clemens and Bonds won't make it when the results come out in about an hour and a half. I am hoping Schilling does make it. He put up the money to keep advanced squad leader in existence See I can predict the future sometimes

What a stain on the character of the sport it is when the all-time hits leader and all-time home run king are not represented in the Hall of Fame. Not that I’d change that mind you. I also enjoyed O. Henry stories when were reading them back in elementary and high school. Heck, I’ve even read a few since then...

From the article above...
"Bonds and Clemens didn’t jump as much. Bonds (60.7% this year) was at 59.1 last year, while Clemens (61% this year) was at 59.5 last year."
From me.
If some of the other players had used a metal bat they might have Bonds like numbers as well. When you cheat, your numbers get better. I think baseball looks better keeping cheaters out.

Schilling was a tool bag but I always thought he was a HOF worthy pitcher. I would have voted for Bonds and Clemens, although I get why people don't. I'm surprised Bobby Abreu only got about 5% of the vote, the guy was an offensive machine.

Which is why the better scenario would have been for baseball’s leadership to show a spine and ban them from eligibility. Of course if they had, the lawsuits from the whiny cheaters would still be being argued in court...

There's already cheaters in the HOF.

There's already cheaters in the HOF. Who could also be extricated if anyone in charge of either the HOF or MLB really cared to protect the integrity of either organization. It’s pretty important that they don’t see the cheating as an issue and would rather leave that burden on the voters. I’m glad this is all happening as I go into my cranky old fart stage. At least I was allowed to make heroes out of these guys when I was a youngster. Sometimes not knowing is better...

The fact that they did things wrong in past voting does not mean they should continue doing so chi.

Schilling was a tool bag but I always thought he was a HOF worthy pitcher. I would have voted for Bonds and Clemens, although I get why people don't. I'm surprised Bobby Abreu only got about 5% of the vote, the guy was an offensive machine. Abreu checked a lot of boxes during his career, but he turns out more like the kid that got all “B’s” on his report card than the straight “A” student. He led the NL in doubles once and in triples once, and that’s it for his black Ink with the exception of getting perfect attendance a couple of times. If he could have nabbed a batting title (seemed capable), or topped the league in RBI (had 100+ but never more than 110). Good BA, which faded the 2nd half of his career, great OBP skills (also often scored 100 runs), stole bases (impressively getting #400 after he stayed out a year and coming back at age 40). His penchant for drawing the BB added to the difficulty of compiling hits, leaving him just shy of 2,500. I think he’d be a tough out if he came back in 2020. I liked him a lot during his career, but he played way beyond his early peak. Peak Abreu was a HOF, but the total Abreu falls short. Longevity is not always a plus in MLB, I suppose...

The fact that they did things wrong in past voting does not mean they should continue doing so chi. What I really meant is that there were players that did PED's, were not caught and have been elected to the HOF.
