Nice list Rizzuto, I will have to add some of those movies to my list that I haven't seen!
Here's some of my favorite movies off the top of my head:
-Godfather I & II -Apocalypse Now -The Shawshank Redemption -Goodfellas -Full Metal Jacket -Resevoir Dogs -Schindler's List -Empire Strikes Back -Dr. Strangelove -The Shining -Silence of the Lambs -Blood Simple -Ferris Bueller's Day Off -Terminator 2 -The Seven Samurai -Airplane! -Memento -Lord of the Rings: Return of the King -Seven -Taxi Driver -The Usual Suspects -Back to the Future
I'm sure there are more but those are off the top of my head.
I considered fourteen of the ones you mentioned! I concur with much of what you guys have listed. Although I may be the only person in America who doesnot like "It's A Wonderful Life." Maybe because everybody says you have to like it. I'm glad you both included goofy stuff like "Airplane" and "Caddy Shack." It makes me feel more confident about throwing in some of my own in that category. And hurrah for putting in a musical, "Singing In The Rain." I gave a few of my own to throw on the pile, adding to your lists (there are no wrong answers.) A few silents to start City Lights The Freshman Seven Chances And from those new-fangled talkies King Kong (1933 ONLY) Bride of Frankenstein Sons of the Desert Horsefeathers The Music Man Top Hat White Heat Brief Encounter Bus Stop Bicycle Thieves Cool Hand Luke This Is Spinal Tap Invasion of the Body Snatchers (original) La Dolce Vita Trains and Planes and Automobiles Life of Brian And probably about 500 more, but I have to run now. Also some quirky ones I wouldn't expect anyone else here to like, such as Endless Summer and That Thing You Do.

What is this Duck Soup? Rizzuto listed it too. I've never even heard of it. I see its a Groucho Marx film.
When the tiny nation of Freedonia goes bankrupt, its wealthy benefactor, Mrs. Teasdale (Margaret Dumont), insists that the wacky Rufus T. Firefly (Groucho Marx) become the country's president. Sensing a weakness in leadership, the bordering nation of Sylvania sends in the spies Pinky (Harpo Marx) and Chicolini (Chico Marx) to set the stage for a revolution. As Firefly clashes with the Sylvanian ambassador (Louis Calhern), plenty of mayhem ensues, and the countries verge on all-out war.
Sounds interesting.

The original Invasion of the Body Snatchers still freaks me out. I agree, desousa, Body Snatchers is very unsettling. The town of Monrovia CA was not far from where we lived in Pasadena, and was where much of the location filming was done. Forty years after the movie was made it was still very recognizable. The low-budget original of "Night of The Living Dead" is another that can still give me the creeps. And Kaybli, I join with the others in recommending Duck Soup. It's Marx Brothers 101. I would have listed it too, but since it was already mentioned I put in Horsefeathers, another of their best. Monkey Business is another.

To me, he’s as stimulating as a second coat of paint. Now, Groucho is where madness and genius meet!

The ominous mystery it creates, those gigantic gates! Brilliant! De Sica’s The Bicycle Thief is perennially recognized as one of the top ten films ever made. You listed Life of Brian and I almost listed Monty Python’s The Holy Grail - much deserved! John Candy was a talent and never more so than Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Gone much too soon. A sweet man.
