I guess we can see why Cashman held on to Happ, they will need him.

Adds a bit of mystery to spring training...

An over-abundance of quality starters just became less impressive; however, we were without Severino all year and still won 103 games. This is still a solid starting five:
1. Cole 2. Severino 3. Tanaka 4. Montgomery 5. Happ
So, at the all-star break, the Yankees will pick up German from suspension and then Paxton. And, we still have Cessa, who pitched well during the postseason. Also, our number one starting prospect will have his first full season at AAA, so there is plenty depth.

And so it begins. I think we need to consult with insurance agencies and medical statistical experts to develop models of players likely to be hurt. And stay away from them. Well we have a perfect method to do that already. 1) Ask, is this player likely to play on the Yankees 2) Everyone who answered yes to on 1 above is likely to get hurt

Thank You, Cashman That is what Cox Proportional Hazard was developed for. We should find someone who can run it. Hmm. I would have expected it to be called Cyst Proportional Hazard, but okay...

That is what Cox Proportional Hazard was developed for. We should find someone who can run it. Hmm. I would have expected it to be called Cyst Proportional Hazard, but okay... Its a special form of regression model to show, given specific predictors, who is likely to leave in a given interval if they have not yet at the beginning of the interval. Its most commonly used to predict death replacing life tables.

"Paxton, 31, will miss 3-4 months after having back surgery in Texas, fixing an issue that had been bothering him since last season."
Might have been better to have the surgery in November... rather than just before Spring training.
Apparently they tried other things first.

This is odd. Usually the injuries don't start piling up until some a-hole starts the dreaded injury thread. Did I miss it somewhere?
