Hey...I'm not one to diss cover or tribute bands. One of the most enjoyable concerts I ever attended was Beatles tribute "1964" at Red Rocks...a recreation of The Beatles '64 show there. Actually, is there really any difference between an Australian Pink Floyd show and the original, other than the personnel? I have a DVD of Neil Young in concert at Red Rocks. Looks like a beautiful place to see a show. Bucket list venue for me. But I'll have to start flying again, which I currently refuse to do.

I don’t blame you. I’ve flown enough that there’s no novelty in it and I hate the whole process from parking to security to… we’ll just all of it. Of course I could drive to Red Rocks in about 3.5 hours. Heck, there’s not even a turn to make until I would get to Morrison on the Denver outskirts and I wouldn’t have to take I-25. Not having to pass through the heart of Denver makes it a more inviting idea for me. But most of my music now lives in Rock and Roll heaven…

Flew every other week for business for several years, plus at least 2X a year for "pleasure". Last time was last May...told my wife I'm done. Road trips are the best.

In the study again today spinning some vinyl. Forgot what a great album Captured Angel is. Stong from start to finish. Dan played all the instruments except Russ Kunkel (drums) and Norbert Putnam (Bass) and Al Perkins Pedal Steel on one track.

One correction, just noticed the late great David Lindley played fiddle on 1 track.

He played on so many recordings, but personally I think some of his best work was with Jackson Browne and Stevie Nicks.

A friend of mine in college was a singularly talented musician with lots of demons. He adored Dan Fogelberg and could play anything by him. The first song I learned to play on guitar on this album was "These Days."

I just noodle around, essentially learned to play on my own in high school and played a lot in college around the dorm, where there were some real musicians. When talented people play, I tend to put my guitar back in the case.

There are some great clips on YouTube of Billy Joel on the Howard Stern Show recently (February 2024):
