"With a Little Help from My Friends" which version do you like? The original with the Beatles or the cover version with Joe Cocker? I see them as 2 different songs...like "Spooky' (Classics IV / ARS). Like 'em both.

Another one was Tom Waites/Rod Stewart’s “Downtown Train”. I like both of those, too. But Stewart turned it into a hit…at first I couldn’t stand the Waites version, but it grew on me. I watched a Stewart interview where he said that the first time he heard it he could hear the melody in his head. He’s a musical genius…

"With a Little Help from My Friends" which version do you like? The original with the Beatles or the cover version with Joe Cocker? While there have been plenty of good (and bad) covers of Beatles' songs, I can't think of a single instance where I thought the remake was better than the original. In this particular case, the song was so clearly crafted by L&M as a personal "Ringo Song" with the Billy Shears segue from the opening "Sgt. Pepper" to the call and response through the verses -- it's like an inseparable link in one of the most significant albums of the rock era. Having said that, I agree that the Joe Cocker version is an entirely different song serving an entirely different stand-alone purpose, and like probably most of you I have no problem liking them both. For what it's worth, McCartney loved Cocker's take on it. As far as Cocker doing The Beatles, I prefer his cover of "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window." Maybe the closest to equalling a Fab Four cover for me is Aerosmith doing "Come Together." Although that isn't among my particular Beatles favorites either, so maybe I don't care as much about it. Emmylou Harris did a really strong version of "Here, There, And Everywhere." I liked EW&F's totally different jazzy take on "Got To Get You Into My Life." Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Wilson Pickett, Fats Domino, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Deep Purple, they've all done Beatles covers. James Brown doing "Something" is a treat. Anyone else remember a British folk group called The Silkie who had a Billboard Top Ten hit in 1965 with "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away?" Worst Beatles cover by a legitimate artist was for me The Carpenters doing "Ticket To Ride." Just drained the life out of it. Among non-legitimate artists, take your pick. William Shatner speaking his way through "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds." Tiny Tim's poignant sad effort with "Nowhere Man." Mae West attempting "Day Tripper." My favorite among the discard pile is Mrs. Miller taking a shot at "A Hard Days Night."

Also you can add the The Beach Boys vocal version of "With a Little Help from My Friends" to the list. It was recorded during the "Wild Honey" album sessions, along with "The Letter" and "Cotton Fields" the songs would appear on 1983 Beach Boys Rarities album.

As I've said many times, to each their own, but to my ear..absolutely dreadful. A version of a Beatles song that I really like, maybe more than the original...Serio Mendes Brasil '66 "Fool On The Hill" www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4chhz8rG58Another...the late, great incomparable...Kenny Rankin "Blackbird" www.youtube.com/watch?v=poW9Ru5Jkvs

The Beach Boys also covered "I Should Have Known Better" and "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" on their "Beach Boys Party" album. Even Jan and Dean got into the act with "Norwegian Wood." Alanis Morrisette also covered that one. Yeah Fontana Records. It was also the label for New Vaudeville Band of "Winchester Cathedral" fame. And naturally of Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders.

Alright, don’t laugh at me…but…
I sold my 30th Anniversary Remastered Metallica Black Album Vinyl on eBay (because it’s not even my favorite Metallica album, Master Of Puppets is and I own it on vinyl) in exchange so I could preorder the 25th Anniversary Creed Human Clay Remastered Deluxe Edition on Vinyl.
I still love Creed and Human Clay and Mark Tremonti’s guitar work is excellent on this album and some of the songs like Inside Us All. There are several tracks on it that I still love to listen to this day like the track I just mentioned as well as Beautiful, Say I, Wrong Way, Faceless Man and Never Die. I also still love Higher and will stay on a station in the car whenever it is playing on the radio.
IMO, Human Clay aged better My Own Prison (and of course Weathered). But I liked a lot of the rock music that came out around that time like Linkin Park and System Of A Down (although those two bands are of course nothing like Creed and are much much heavier and they are Nu-Metal). But, I'm sure a lot of people here much much older than me probably shake their heads at that kind of music and look back at it in disgust LMFAO.
