Roy Clark was amazing with just about anything with strings. I was a kid when Hee Haw was on the air and still a kid when it was in syndication. Though not a country music fan growing up, I nevertheless was taken with the show’s musicianship and especially the scantily dressed Hee Haw Honeys. Having tinkered with four, six, and twelve strings since my teens, if I had half of Roy Clark’s talent, I’d still be able to make a great living playing guitar. He was that good. Yes he was. An incredible guitar player. For something off the beaten path, check out You Tube for Roy and "Gatemouth" Brown doing a take on the old Duke Ellington big band standard, "Take the A Train." They absolutely tear it up. As does the pedal steel player and the other unnamed guitar player. If you're into guitar, it's an absolute treat. If you play guitar, it either makes you want to go practice your butt off--or just quit and go play a kazoo, or something. Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown played at the Varsity Theatre on the LSU campus when I was a freshman circa 1983-84. Thanks for springing loose that memory! Just ordered my kazoo!

He played at JazzFest when I was there as well and he absolutely kicked ass.

I‘m sticking with the didgeridoo...Maybe playing some drums on the steering wheel to the “Faces”, “ I’m Losing You”, and singing the hmm-hmm-hmms when I’m in good voice... When I had my ear infection, I had to give up my shower singing...That sucked...

Sorry your shower singing sucked. Hope you didn't have any long term consequences from your ear infection.

Just kind of my mood today: Understandable. Under the best of circumstances the post Christmas and pre-New Years week is a bizarre stretch of time during which we don’t want to go back to work. We don’t know what day it is. We don’t know when or if North Korea is going to deliver our Christmas present. We don’t know if Aunt Tilly liked the sweater we have her, nor if we like the one she gave to us. We’re over-dosed on Christmas music and commercials where each spouse has given the other a brand new car for Christmas, plus they both bought their teenage daughter a new car as well. The mayhem in Wal-Mart has been insane for a solid month plus, Christmas music has constantly assaulted our senses as the greed of the season overtakes much of the religious meaning to those who celebrate. Yet, we already miss all fun, family, dinners. Humanity is a strange condition from which we suffer. It’s incurable...
