(The Drifters) This Magic Moment - 0:00 (Bobby Darin) Dream Lover - 2:36 (Paul Anka) Diana - 5:04 (Ritchie Valens) Donna - 7:13 (Jerry Lee Lewis) Great Balls of Fire - 9:47 (Elvis Presley) Latest Flame - 11:37 ( Bobby Pickett ) Monster Mash - 13:54 (Conway Twitty) Only Make Believe -16:31 (Del Shannon ) Runaway - 18:47 (The Dupress) You Belong to Me - 21:12 Maybe I’ll give this a quick listen...Interesting. I tend to like rock that’s been stripped down and performed acoustically. I expect this puts some rough edges on softer tunes... Plenty of rough edges for you in there, Inger. You won't have to worry about any sweeping strings in "This Magic Moment"

Reminds me of an interview I saw with Don McClean when someone asked him what his song “American Pie” meant. He said “It means I never have to work again”... I think he became some kind of financial services guru. Made the leap from starry starry nights to hedge funds.

A little soft and flowery, but I have several Van Goghs in my collection. That’s a collection of books with pictures of his art work, of course... 🤪

Not sure how Bobby Darin or Elvis would have reacted, but I give them a thumbs up for giving these songs a shot. Unfortunately I am old enough to remember when each of the originals were new. Of all the artists on this list, I am pretty sure that Jerry Lee Lewis is the only one still alive. Maybe one of the original Duprees. If you had taken bets in 1960 on how long Jerry Lee Lewis would be alive, you'd have had problems getting a wager on anything much past 1963. I saw Bobby "Boris" Pickett perform "Monster Mash" at the Greek Theater in LA in 1997 as part of a show of one hit wonders. The guy was absolutely hilarious and brought the house down. He also mentioned that every year around Halloween he got a check for about a hundred grand for royalties from that song. Marky Ramone played drums on that recording!!!

But you can hear the rhythms of "Rockaway Beach" or "I Wanna Be Sedated" in those songs. I have albums by groups like Dust and Richard Hell and the Voidoids where Marky is giving that same percussive drive, but honestly I never heard of the Misfits until you brought them up. Most of my musical knowledge is laughably dated, but this was fun stuff.

The lead singer has a good voice, too, which you don’t often encounter in many thrash-rock type groups.

If you like the singers voice, also check out Danzig and Samhain... his other bands. Danzig is a lot slower musically. The song "Mother" is pretty popular, played on the radio.

Marky Ramone also has a band called "Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg" The Ramones- Blitzkrieg Bop was the first song I ever learned on guitar... Unsurprisingly, a lot of other punk songs are the exact same... just strummed a little different lol

Here's the newer old singer of the Misfits, Michael Graves, going solo before Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg

Something a little different Oddly riveting. There’s a lot of talent there. Sometimes artistry can be a talented individual’s worst enemy...

Richard Hell and the Voidoids... I haven't heard that band in a while... Never heard of Dust.. You're not missing much. I bought an album of theirs called "Hard Attack" back in the early 70s, back when I was buying almost anything that seemed like it might be a bit quirky. It was just standard plodding power trio dreck. I would get stuff just because the cover art looked compelling or the group had a funny name or the album title made me laugh. This resulted in a lot of vinyl sitting unlistened to for decades after one sitting. I sure can't remember the last time I played anything by Atomic Rooster or Geza X or Holly and the Italians or Nervus Rex or The Peanut Butter Conspiracy.

There could be some one who played for Nervous Rex trying to find out who bought that album they sold...

On the other hand, there were pleasant surprises among some artists who got little if any airplay and are probably not much remembered today. British Lions, Cretones, Paul Collins Beat -- the supply of musical talent always exceeds the demand. Anyone on here remember The Shaggs? Definitely one of a kind, with a cult following back in the 80s.
