The Misfits are pretty popular these days... a lot of teenagers wear their shirts... but they don't even realize it's a band LOL
Cro-Mags are another band I've been diggin' a lot lately.. lyrics keep me thinking positive...
Hard times are comin your way You're gonna have to rise above it some day Organize your life and figure it out Or you'll go under without a doubt
Hard times! Hard times! Seems i'm bein forced into a mold Hard times! Hard times! Forcin me and i'm growin cold
Hard times are coming through But if your hard they won't get to you They're gonna try to drive you into the ground But never surrender, never go down!

Not my thang. Go ahead and enjoy it, though...Music is art. We can never question what one prefers...

Found this gem. Misfits covering music from the 50's. I know my Grandpa listened to many of these songs. This is with their bassist, Jerry Only, singing.

Not sure how Bobby Darin or Elvis would have reacted, but I give them a thumbs up for giving these songs a shot. Unfortunately I am old enough to remember when each of the originals were new. Of all the artists on this list, I am pretty sure that Jerry Lee Lewis is the only one still alive. Maybe one of the original Duprees. If you had taken bets in 1960 on how long Jerry Lee Lewis would be alive, you'd have had problems getting a wager on anything much past 1963. I saw Bobby "Boris" Pickett perform "Monster Mash" at the Greek Theater in LA in 1997 as part of a show of one hit wonders. The guy was absolutely hilarious and brought the house down. He also mentioned that every year around Halloween he got a check for about a hundred grand for royalties from that song.

Reminds me of an interview I saw with Don McClean when someone asked him what his song “American Pie” meant. He said “It means I never have to work again”...

I tend to like rock that’s been stripped down and performed acoustically. I expect this puts some rough edges on softer tunes...
