I hope the SEC isn't turning into the Big 12 with all these shootouts and no defense. I agree chi. My friend and I were watching yesterday and both teams seem to score at will and very quickly. Gators scored 51 points and we were still nervous. The LSU/Mississippi game was pretty much the same thing.

The SEC has officially turned into the Big 12. Very little defense anywhere. Watching the Gators yesterday made me as sick as I was the night before watching the Yankees. Hopefully my Washington Generals will win today.

Defenses have just not caught up with modern offenses, and the rules protecting players have aided in that regard. Too many wonderful athletes in the SEC with innovative coordinators that have become quite adept at getting them the ball in space. Also, elite defensive backs and pass rushers are leaving school early for the financial security of the NFL.
LSU’s Covid-19 opt outs really hurt an already NFL depleted defense.

Does anybody except me miss the old 3 yards and a cloud of dust offenses of yore? Whether in the NFL or on the collegiate level, I used to love watching the chess match, wondering when the QB might drop back and throw one of the 25 passes he would unleash during the game. Would he throw it long? Would he dare throw in the middle? Would the right end slip out to the right?
I haven’t seen a game this year. I don’t care about the kneeling, either. I was down to three games last year. It’s just not as entertaining to me anymore...

As a Penn St. and Steelers fan, I grew up on the old school ways of winning games with a solid running game and great defense. I sort of miss those days, it's hard to play good defense these days with all the rules that favor the offense.

Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, Jack Ham and his fearsome toothless presence. The whole package on that team with the offense and defense... Bradshaw seemingly always came out with a long pass early to set the defense back on its heels...

The game was certainly different with longer passing plays and lower percentage completions, no short passing, west coast offenses back then. The downside of this, those long developing pass plays often lead the QB taking some vicious hits while or after he threw the ball, sometimes to the head. Very few roughing the passer penalties too.

No defenseless receiver calls either. Catching the ball over the middle meant getting rocked. No in the grasp calls for QBs either. Gigantic shoulder pads, plaster of Paris forearms, and stickum. No targeting, only spearing and clotheslining were illegal.

Oh boy, college football's biggest star has covid. Come on, Boston College! Does this mean Lawrence will miss Notre Dame as well?

It doesn't look good for Lawrence and the Notre Dame game. "ACC rules mean that Lawrence could potentially also miss No. 1 Clemson’s huge matchup at No. 4 Notre Dame on Nov. 7. According to ACC’s COVID-19 protocol, “a student-athlete who tests positive for COVID-19 shall be isolated for at least 10 days from the onset of symptoms/positive test and at least 1 day has passed since recovery defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement of respiratory symptoms.” sports.yahoo.com/clemson-qb-trevor-lawrence-tests-positive-for-covid-19-005307887.html
