If you can believe the rhetoric, and some days I can, other days I can’t) every little thing we do helps in incremental measures. No, the numbers in football playing conferences may indeed not correlate with overall results in a particular area. But then again, they might. This is a virus, therefore a living organism. Similar to my post about wild animals, there are certain predictabilities. There are also certain unpredictibilities. It’s nature. If the virus is headed in one direction, but the temperature changes, does the virus still remain strong, or does it weaken? What if it rains? No one seems to know... Actually, a virus is not an organism because it is not made up of cells or even a single cell. It is much smaller. Also, there is also serious debate as to whether or not it is living, as it cannot reproduce or induce any other metabolic function without a host. It’s more like a zombie parasite. Good information to know, Zooter...

I am not sure an organism is defined as having a cell. It is true that virus do not appear to meet some definitions of life, although that is more a philosophical than practical debate. They resemble von Neumann machines to me more than anything. Or directed chemicals.

I think if they had not opened the universities than the players might, with really close supervision have avoided major problems. But they did open many universities and the kids will party and thus get sick.Quick math problem. If one player with COVID19 without a mask goes into huddle at time Yt, how many players have it at Yt+1? Then again, the primary reason these kids are at the school is for their education. If kids can't attend classes on campus, then they shouldn't be playing sports and this is coming from a huge college sports fan. I think its subject to debate if they are there for an education or not at the elite schools.

To the credit of some, some do have great intellect and achieve high degrees that they deserve...They’re special people...

Once considered life, later demoted, and still questioned. I think what had me thinking that this was a life form was hearing the commonly used term “evolution” used in respect to the changes a virus makes to continue to fight off medicine. What the unknown about viruses can do for us is to make us realize that there may be many life forms that we don’t recognize, but could do remarkable things, good and bad, if they were discovered. Are they in space? Under the oceans? The more we learn, the less we know...

The rest better take advantage of the time spent in college.

Anyone watch the Paul Finebaum(?)show on ESPN? I don't ordinarily, but he is keeping up on the play/don't play factions, and it makes it interesting if you like college sports. The first rock fell down the cliff at Iowa today when they eliminated 4 scholarship programs. Other athletic departments in conferences which are foregoing football will be forced to follow suit. I feel for the kids that will be affected. Some will not be able to finish their education. Others impacted in ways we cannot guess. The tentacles of Covid have reached into so many places and had so many impacts that it is mind-spinning. It really didn't need to be so bad, folks, and I don't just mean cancelling football.

The preseason top 10, which means very little since the Big Ten & Pac 10 won't be playing games this fall.

Tomorrow, Saturday, August 29th will be a football game on ESPN at 9:00 PM ET. The protagonists are Austin Peay and Central Arkansas. By Yimminey, ve get to vatch some football at last. I hope their TV ratings and payout is huge. Good for them.

Watch the developing story being revealed of how the political agenda of the activist Big10 commissioner drove the decision to cancel B10 football in the hopes of swinging the election to the left. Google some of the recent stories on Warren and his political agenda. How the Hell has Sports become a conduit for political shenanigans?

Anyone who bases their vote on whether or not a sports event is being played... I just don’t know where to go with that statement ernesto. Yet, I don’t doubt what you’re saying.

It's sad, but almost everything about COVID-19 has become political.
