Super flop. Zunino HR makes it 8-4. Just awful. Breaking news: Ottavino is a better pitcher than some journeyman scrub. I was expecting Chad Green to come in for Ottavino.

8 runs on 6 hits. Awful.

I have to get ready to run some errands. This doesn’t have to be a loss, plenty of time left. Bring it home, men...

Holder holds them in the seventh. Finally.

Man, we could really use a Gardner hot streak. The Yankees went down way too easily that inning.

As Diaz hits that double, I get this unconfirmed feeling that the Rays always seem to get so many doubles and triples. The players are young and fast, most are trained to take pitches until they see something they can square up, but they’re not swinging from the heels. They’re looking for contact and holes in the defense. We don’t have much of that. We have more creaky, injury prone veterans with that impressive power. Not looking for a hole in the defense. Not looking to use their legs to grab an extra base. It’s about the approach, but it’s a product of the budget, too... The Yankees have been slow for almost the entire 45 years I have watched them. They experimented with speed in the early 80's with Collins et el, but quickly gave it up.
