We may not make the play offs, in danger now of falling to 4th in the division.

Many interesting comments here analyzing the reasons behind this brutal Yankees'season. I was puzzled by several of the Yankees' moves prior to this year and all of the questions I'd had seem all too relevant, still:
1) What in the world made them think that trusting Sanchez again would pan out? He has always been terrible defensively, was terrible offensively in 2018 and struck out a ton last year. He'd shown NO improvement since his rookie season. What made them think this would change...his coming into 2020 "in the best shape of his life?" He's a palooka. I wanted them to sign Yasmani Grandal and try to flip Sanchez in a deal for a pitcher.
2) Why did they dump DiDi? He wasn't great after returning from surgery. But his LH power and defense were all there. And no one ever seemed to have confidence that Torres could play SS.
I could go on but I won't.

I would sign Realmuto next year but I think he might be too expensive for the Yankees. I'll take Romine, Ramos, James McCann, almost anyone over Sanchez next year. On a healthy squad, there was no room for Didi really with Gleyber manning SS, DJ at 2nd, Urshela at 3rd, and Voit at first. Can't knock them too much there. They can always sign Didi again after this year if they feel Gleyber can't handle SS though I think he can do an adequate job.

I don't know much about the Yankee's coaching staff but it defies my imagination why someone has not been able to work with Sanchez to improve offensively and defensively, if only just a little. I can't recall somebody who has been in the league this long making the same mistakes at and behind the plate time and time again. I hate to dump on any one player but watching him play is brutal. I expect this will be Gardner's last year. I am not a big Boone fan particularly the way he handles his bullpen but he is not making those "ace" relievers suck. When you look at the bench options, pinch hitting in late game situations usually makes no sense. Who is going to pinch hit: Wade, Sanchez, Ford, Estrada, anybody you name? Discouraging. Maybe things will turn around tonight. If everybody can slump at the same time can't they all break out of their slumps at the same time?

It could be said that keeping Torres over Didi was one of the mistakes. Torres could have brought back a top starting pitcher. It’s true that we didn’t have room for all of the infielders we had, but Didi was a proven quantity over a stretch of multiple seasons. While Torres posted big numbers, he got a big boost from his flukey performance against a subpar Orioles team and a joke baseball that helped everyone propel balls into the stratosphere. A couple years ago we could have probably built a trade around Sanchez to get Realmuto. Taking on the Stanton contract never made sense because of his injury history. I think think the reacquisition of Chapman will ultimately turn out to be ugly, as well. What made him special was a 105 MPH FB that’s never going to be seen again. As good as Ottavino has been, his age screamed out that he would soon be another kind of has been. In the meantime, there have been some terrific picks off the scrap heap with Voit and Urshela, so it’s not all bad. Yet, with the team resources being what they are, the Yanks have become far too reliant on scrap heap moves...

That’s one of the unique aspects of baseball. The trick seems to be having the good fortune to keep 1/3 of the line up hot, 1/3 going normal, and 1/3 cool. When they all get hot, it’s sort of natural for all to cool off together... like now. We can’t trace all of today’s trouble to injuries or roster mistakes. Some of it is really, really bad luck...

The Yankees are now blaming their last Loss on Lightening???
Yankees complain about lighting, tipped pitches after loss to Blue Jays.
"YOU SAID WHAT???"
This is NOW, officially beyond SAD = IT IS NOW Funny, even better = Hilarious.
So now the Weather/Climate Change is the reason we are losing...
WOW!!! This is embarrassing.
I am going to talk with my biddy who is a Beyond Avid Yankee fan; to see if I can take some of his $$$ in a bet.
"Tequila, what do you think?"
"Hee, Hee, Hee"
