I agree. That wasn't a smart move pulling Higgy. And Chapman should have mixed up a slider or split to Brosseau at the end there. It was obvious that Brosseau was on his fastball. Chapman def suffers from the closers in tie games not as effective trait as well. They obviously need 1 more guy even with Chapman they are missing that Betances type guy they had before. Speaking of him if he declines his player option with the Mets he would be a FA, but I dunno if he is the same that he was before the injury as he didn't look great with the mets at all. Kahnle is out till at least September minimum maybe the whole season. I couldn’t get it to copy, but Chapman’s truncated 2020 record doesn’t bear this out. Batting average against was between .143 and .167 in all leverage situations, but he allowed the long ball only in the high leverage situations. Another point that I forgot to bring to the table was his lack of focus and inability to hold runners on first base. Teams have learned, as they did earlier with Betances, that he is susceptible to the running game’s distractions. In Chapman’s case, being a southpaw you would expect that this might be fixable, but he’s waited a long time without addressing it. Yes, if we can keep Chapman and his slider, change up /splitter combo can prove to be consistent and effective he still may be a weapon. But please fix his work with runners on first base, and find a catcher that can catch those pitches along with 101 mile juice... With all those pitches, maybe we need to make him into a starter again... 😎

I read somewhere the day after the game that Sanchez called for the slider on the pitch that Brosseau homered on but Chapman shook him off. It seems to be overlooked now, but I think Boone lifting Higgy in that situation was one of the worst moves of his young managerial career. Yea I read that too. Chapman was maybe scared of being beat on his second best pitch like he was the year before to Altuve.

White Sox crushed for email gaffe in their Tony La Russa hiring announcement
Chicago's message looked fine until a closer examination of the signature included above La Russa's name. Is that ... A.J. Hinch? Yes, yes it is. The White Sox's reported second choice for the job, passed over in favor of La Russa, had what looks like his signature accidentally included in the email.
The mistake has since been corrected.

It looks like one of the disgraced managers will get a second chance. Should have been a lifetime ban. This is what happens when discipline is lax.. Cheating bum should never have another job. Cora might come back next.

Gardner will probably be back on a lesser deal. Too bad Tauchman showed nothing with the bat, because he would make a good back up OF, since he can play all three OF positions well, but he needs to hit better than he did 2020.

Rays declined RHP Charlie Morton's $15 million option for 2021.
A $15 million salary for Morton in 2021 is perfectly reasonable, but it's not terribly surprising that the Rays chose not to pick up the option. General manager Erik Neander did say that the club would be interested in bringing the right-hander back at a lesser salary commitment. Morton will turn 37 in a couple weeks and has discussed the possibility of retirement, for what it's worth.

What's it say that they weren't willing to commit 15 million for one more year of Morton? That's not a good sign.

I’ve certainly wondered if his initial success was due to the lively baseball and a bit of luck.
