YES I AGREE INGER: Three-Years ONLY at $25 Million with a TEAM Option. I'd say 4 years @ 80 million. I'm down with that.

Another free agent pitcher off the list. A pretty good payday for Gausman.

I'd say 4 years @ 80 million. I'm down with that. I’m thinking that’s about what he can get. Takes him to age 36, when he’s probably still a .290 guy with 15 or so HR. I think that as good as his defense is, he should still be above average in the field at that point, too. Given what’s happening with the virus and what appears could happen to revenues in the next few years, I don’t think many players are going to get that kind of money anymore. I think he’s about as blue-chip of a player to deserve it.

I had slowly slid more into the McCann camp, but I also like Molina. He’s still a great defender and could pass a lot of information to Higashioka as well as some fine young MiLB catchers the Yanks have drafted in the past couple of years. I could see him and Higgy doing a 50/50 or 60/40 split behind the plate in 2021...

According to Joel Sherman, Ken Davidoff, and Dan Martin of the New York Post, the Yankees "will at minimum listen to offers" on a potential Gary Sanchez trade.
This comes on the heels of a report from Jon Heyman of MLB Network that tied the Yankees -- along with the Mets and 3-4 other teams -- to free agent catcher Yadier Molina. Sanchez struggled both defensively and offensively during the condensed 2020 season but still stands to get a raise in salary arbitration this winter. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman acknowledged to the media in mid-October that it is "certainly a fair question" as to whether Sanchez will still be the team's primary starter behind the plate in 2021. I like DJ, but I fear we got his best years and will end up paying for past accomplishments with a new contract. Saying that, we probably should do what it takes to keep a guy THAT ACTUALLY MAKES CONTACT WITH THE BALL! As for Sanchez... I don't think any team would take him in a trade so it's either DH/C platoon or release. What's Tony Womack up to these days? Seems like we could bring him back (he must be 50 by now) and get the same production as we do from GS

I like the idea of Higgy and McCann. I doubt we could get anything for Sanchez and I would not be opposed to releasing him. Unless he has some kind of epiphany at the plate and on defense I just don't see us winning big with him behind the plate. Our pitchers can't pitch to him. I would be surprised if we could sign DJ for less than $80 million. My guess is that somebody values his versatility and ability more than that. As bobbyjack said he actually makes contact with the ball which seems to be a declining art in the Yankee's lineup(not everybody).

For about 10 million a year, he wouldn't cost that much more than retaining Sanchez.
