After more thought on the matter DJ:
I would do $27 Million/year for ONLY 3-Years with a Team Option Year -- PLUS there would NOT be a 'No Trade' clause.
After 3-years he probably will become a Retread (Numbers drop, etc.) UNLESS he is one of the SO FEW Special Ones...
Trade him and SIGN --Brad Hand--Liam Hendriks OR.................
Yankees right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino has come up in trade speculation, though the 35-year-old unsurprisingly said this week he’d like to remain with the club (via Ken Davidoff of the New York Post). “I want to stay on the team. I want to prove my worth. I want to pitch well,” he told Davidoff. “I want to finish what we tried to start these last few years and win that title and all that.” Ottavino had a great first season with the Yankees in 2019 after signing a three-year, $27MM contract, but the former Rockie’s run prevention numbers took steps backward during the previous campaign. He wound up with a horrid 5.89 ERA in 18 1/3 innings, though Ottavino logged a 3.52 FIP (not far from the 3.44 mark he posted the prior year) and 12.27 K/9 against 4.42 BB/9.
I THINK THE METS ARE GOING TO SING SOME OF THE BEST FA'S --Cash better get off his ASS..
Mets, James McCann In “Active” Talks.
AH Jesus the World has gone MAD!!!
Thats a 3 million per year reduction after leading the Team and AL in batting and other categories on the team.

I wonder if a 4 year deal with a 5th year option based on games played in that 4th season would get it done with DJ?

WE SHOULD ALSO BE TALKING TO THESE TWO BP PITCHERS!!!
Report: Giants, Phillies interested in Hendriks, Hand
The Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants are both looking for ways to improve their bullpens ahead of next season and it appears like two of last year's best closers could be the answers.
Both the Phillies and Giants are showing interest in free-agent relievers Liam Hendriks and Brad Hand, sources told MLB.com's Jon Morosi.
The bullpen is a major need for both teams: Philadelphia's relievers combined to post an MLB-worst 7.06 ERA last season while San Francisco's bullpen was worth minus-0.6 WAR, according to FanGraphs.
Hendriks finished ninth in American League Cy Young voting following a dominant career-year with the Oakland Athletics. The 31-year-old recorded a 1.78 ERA, 1.14 FIP, and 0.67 WHIP with 14 saves in 15 chances.
Hand led the majors with 16 saves alongside a 2.05 ERA and 1.37 FIP for the Cleveland Indians, who surprisingly declined his $10-million option for 2021 at the end of October.

$27M x 3 = $81M, not $71M...

I'd offer DJ 4 years and 90 million with an option for a 5th, based on games played in the 4th season. Get it done Hal & Cashman.

His stats have noticeably improved in YS3. If I was him I’d want to stay there. If I was an opposing GM I’d realize that he’s a player that has produced all of his numbers in hitters ballparks, and might be reluctant to chase him too hard. And if I’m the Yankees I want to keep him...

And if I’m the Yankees I want to keep him... I agree, he has more value to the Yankees than most teams. D.J. did hit over .300 on the road in both 2020 & 2019, but his power numbers are significantly better at Yankee Stadium, as you would expect, since D.J. goes to right field so well.

And if I’m the Yankees I want to keep him... This is the thing. He is a great player, but other teams do see his numbers increase at YS3. He’s only had two seasons with an OPS+ over 100. There were even two seasons when he batted over .300 with an OPS+ under 100. He’s a sort of late bloomer, no matter how you look at him with a career OPS+ of 102. Let’s not build him into more than he is. Yet, he is also a dynamic example of the overall value of a player that fields his position well, leads my example. Not pouting over the last dollar he can get and playing his ass off for his team. All roads to player evaluation always pass through OPS valuations. That’s as patently true as it is wrong. Sometimes a guy is just a baseball player. I think that’s as fine a compliment as a player can get...

LeMahieu has been in the league long enough that he’s not fooling anybody. If there was a book on getting him out, we’d have seen it by now. Indeed, he is getting better, and his level swing and ability to hit to the opposite field likely won’t deteriorate anytime soon. He’s the Yankees’ best and most reliable hitter and he can play three infield positions. He deserves 5 years and 100 million. If the Yankees weren’t bogged down with Stanton’s contract, I doubt there’d be much hesitation. Get it done.
Too bad we don’t have a legitimate lead off hitter, because LeMahieu should be batting third in the lineup and vying for the RBI crown.

If we give DJ a 5-year Contract how OLD will he be in the LAST YEAR of such (Think Retread???)
Heard the DJ is looking for 5-years at $100 million = TOO LONG.
As I posted we should offer at best $27 million per year for ONLY 3-years.

I wonder if there's a study out there that shows when wins more post games: The slugger that uppercuts everything and does hit with power but also strikes out a lot and draws walks or the hitter, like D.J. that hits line drives everywhere and seems to have the same quality at bat all the time.
