What are everyone's thoughts on Gary? This season really wasn't even long enough to get a good sample of plate appearances. Seems like a lot of people I have seen, are beginning to turn on him. I think the Yankees have no choice but to keep rolling with him. He's cost controlled and they need that right now. That being said he's one of the most frustrating players I've ever watched. Way too many ugly swings for one guy to consistently have. I think getting Realmuto is a pipe dream so I think they'll give Gary one more chance with Higgy in there to start if Sanchez continues to struggle. Maybe James McCann could be an option in free agency? Yea, Sanchez is very hard to watch with high fastballs and breaking balls away getting him every time. Agree with all of that. I think they need to really go for it. If the right deal came along I would even move Dominguez,if a legit ace is coming back. Anyone from the farm that isn't helping this year should be on the table in trade talks.

MAYBE MORTON ON 1-YEAR:
Rays' Charlie Morton addresses future.

I think... (oh God, here it comes)...
We can make some personnel moves on the field. Some of those moves will help. But until we change managers, or if the manager has someone else above pulling the strings, then the string pulled must go...
The puppet, or the puppeteer must go...

That goes double if there is no minor league baseball next year. Before we let these kids sit another season, I’d loan them to Mexican or Japanese teams...or... promote them...

That's just crazy, I hope he makes a full recovery. Rather minor injury. Pierced all three layers of skin, did not enter any organs. He should be fine in short order. He was quite a late bloomer in MLB. I had no idea he’s already 32 years old. I understand now why the Rays were willing to trade him... But also wish for his recovery. Good all around player...

Sherman: Yankees likely to hold offer to DJ at 3 years, $60M; lists Giants, Dodgers, Padres, and perhaps the Mets who may spend this offseason
Take it with a grain of salt because Sherman is just speculating out of his ass, but I don't think 3 years, 60 million is going to get it done.

Just curious, but do we have extra money to spend because we don't have to pay for Alex Rodrigues' and Ellsbury's contract any longer? I think this past season was the last year we had to pay Arod $5M. Also I think Ellsbury contract comes down to $5M from $22M.
Maybe we're way over the salary cap so those savings don't factor into our spending?

The Yankees are trying to get out of paying Ellbsury the 21 million he was due in 2020, and the 5 million in 2021 because he used an outside trainer. Haven't seen anything on whether that has been resolved yet. Despite these two, I've heard rumblings that because of COVID, we are going to tighten the budget.

[img alt=" " class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/gszgVuvxUtZEFrgJSkis.gif"] So we should be under the cap next year then? Also, I echo everyone's thoughts on Sanchez, he kills me, but then I read this article and I'm second guessing myself. I read earlier in this thread that more playing time will expose Higgy but I'm not so sure that's true. I figure more playing time and he might actually get better. He had good power in the minors. Had a couple of 20HR seasons with low ABs. That translates to 40 HRs if you calculate more ABs but it usually doesn't work that way. fansided.com/2020/10/12/yankees-rumors-gary-sanchez-future/www.pinstripealley.com/2020/10/10/21510449/yankees-value-higashioka-defense-how-do-stats-compare-catchers
