2020 is the last year of A-Rod's deferred payments. He was due 5 million in 2020, you are correct. The Yankees are trying to get out of paying Ellbsury the 21 million he was due in 2020, and the 5 million in 2021 because he used an outside trainer. Haven't seen anything on whether that has been resolved yet. Despite these two, I've heard rumblings that because of COVID, we are going to tighten the budget. [img alt=" " class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/gszgVuvxUtZEFrgJSkis.gif" style="max-width:100%;"] So we should be under the cap next year then? We have about 140 million on the books for 2021. The Salary Threshold is 210 million. So its up to ownership if they want to be under the luxury tax threshold or not. I hope they blow by it to improve the team, but somehow I doubt it.

If they don't resign DJ because they lowballed him, I'm going to be ultra pissed.

Sherman: Yankees likely to hold offer to DJ at 3 years, $60M; lists Giants, Dodgers, Padres, and perhaps the Mets who may spend this offseason
Take it with a grain of salt because Sherman is just speculating out of his ass, but I don't think 3 years, 60 million is going to get it done.
YANKS should go only 3-years at $26 Million a year will most likely get deal done & in three years he could be a FA again.

He’s 32 next year. Since he’s all business on the field and a unique talent in today’s game, I could see a 5 year contract at $80-85M. He’d be a free agent after his age 36 season. He may wind up at an infield corner by the last couple years of the contract, but the value would still be there. If it’s a shorter contract, like three years. We could increase AAV to about $22-26M...

tanaka's salary is going away too. Tanaka (if he doesn't come back), Paxton and Happ's salaries will come off the books. D.J.'s salary will more than double and all the arbitration guys will get raises. The Yanks should go all out on Bauer. Was there ever a question of Boone coming back? I thought that was a strange thing to even discuss at this press conference.

I'm not sure if Trevor Bauer is interested in pitching for the Yankees or if he wants it to appear that they are involved in his free agency to drive up the price.

I think another thing that had a big effect on this season is the Yankees are built more for a full season than a modified season. They usually start slow and get better during the season. You can see by some of the teams that made the playoffs over a full season they probably couldn't sustain the record they did over the 60 games.

At his age we should learn from prior errors (NO, Sanchez I was not talking about you = Errors) & not sign any contract over 3-years.
NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR NEXT YEAR SO FAR:
We got Boone coming back which means: --More daily line-up changes giving NO Consistency for our Players. --More mishandling of pulling our SP too soon --More Swing Away Crap & Little to NO hit/run, bunts, stealing, etc. etc. etc. = JUST SWING FOR THE FENCES or in Sanchez's case swing at the AIR.
Could we package Boone & Sanchez for a trade???
