Yaz from Long Island? He played tons of games. Good job, I had no idea Yaz was from NY but he had one of the longest careers in MLB history. Yeah, that accent stuck in my head. Plus I have some vague recollection from my long-ago youth that his family was involved with potato farming. A-Rod would probably be well up on that list if they ever let him into the Hall. Great players from NYC besides Lou and A-Rod would include Whitey Ford, Sandy Koufax and Hank Greenberg.

You know what place punches far above its weight for producing great players? Mobile Alabama. Hank Aaron, Satchel Paige, Willie McCovey, Billy Williams and Ozzie Smith. All in the HOF from a city that would fit comfortably in a corner of Brooklyn.

The only word to describe the team tonight is “listless”... That means none of them could make a decent list if they tried, right? ...

For just a moment, I thought, one swing from Stanton and we cut the lead in half. One fleeting moment. Stanton couldn’t even get it past the pitcher.

Remember when the Yankees got him the question was what were the odds he and Judge would each hit over 50 homers in the same season for the Yankees.
