I don’t think this guy will be at this level very long. Watching him and Dominguez grow at the same time is an embarrassment of riches...

Great stuff in there desousa. Especially the performances of Wells and Volpe. And it sure seems as if Gittens would at the least be no worse than Ford, although with Voit back soon it doesn't matter much now.

“ The snapshot of Wells (participating in big-league major league spring training), both the pitchers that threw to him and the coaches that worked with him were very impressed. Super mature guy both physically and mentally. He performed well for us. He continued to turn heads in minor-league camp. This is just kind of a little bit of ‘you’ve got to do your time.’ ”
I really don’t get the sentiment of “you’ve got to do your time.” Either Wells is ready to take the next step or not. Why force what may be an athlete’s healthiest years toiling in the low minors if it’s not required? Other teams at times bring up teenagers to the big leagues. The Yankees have some ready-by-date prison sentence idea that’s close to a one-size-fits-all philosophy. Or, more often, break glass only in case of injury. Evidently, it’s okay for a 26 year old to hit .180 in the majors but not a 19 year old.

Ugh, Deivi is going backwards. I smell a rat here. This post looks like one from earlier this spring. Was this in Yankee spring training? I distinctly recall Deivi with 7 walks week s ago...

No. I suppose it’s true. But Deivi had 7bb in spring also... I removed it shocked me because I was wondering what happened to his command... Deivi appears to be a long, long way from New York right now..

Ugh, Deivi is going backwards. Hopefully just a blip. To the extent that you can count on a pitching prospect, I was kind of pencilling him in.
