Look how the Red Sox base runners get down the line compared to the Yankees. The difference is like night and day. Yep.

Another poor throw from Torres. A terrible throw from Andujar to third and a horrible throw home from Frazier. Awful fundamental baseball continues.

Look how the Red Sox base runners get down the line compared to the Yankees. The difference is like night and day. We're scared and slow and gimpy. We've got an unathletic group in a day and age where athleticism is premium. If you can't mash like we used to, you get exposed.

Cole gave up a ton of home runs his first season with the Yankees. I’m not saying he’s unaffected by the rules changes, but this is also a combination of poor location, poor pitch selection on Devers, and another umpire calling balls for strikes. It also doesn’t help that the Yankees can’t buy a run. No margin for error. Lastly, Boston has a few guys having career years in Boegaerts, Devers, et al. They aren’t missing fat pitches. Sometimes you just have to say “They were better than us”. Hopefully, that’s what upper management is seeing and they’ll make decisions accordingly. We should thankful we’re anywhere near playoff contention. I think without some kind of change that I can’t fathom at this point, we’re not making the playoffs at all this year…

Meanwhile the Yankees offense is getting shut down by a pitcher that had a 6+ ERA entering today's action. Another reason to believe it’s not all about Spider Tack. We don’t hit good or mediocre pitching. Cole's last two starts: KC: 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, TOR: 8 IP, 4 H, 2 R I think both those starts were without the sticky stuff. Cole today, just doesn't have any command against a great hitting team.

I've been doing house chores this morning/afternoon and the only part of this game I saw was in the first inning when a Boston runner tug up from 2nd on a fly ball to Andujar and easily made it third and the throw was so bad that a runner on first went to second. That's really all I needed to see and thankfully I missed the Devers HR that came shortly afterwards. Chores are more fun than this game. I ran a little 5K yesterday morning and then it rained all day, so today was yard work day.

I agree. I was just pointing out the 200+rpm difference in his fastball. That's got to make a difference in his effectiveness.

Look how the Red Sox base runners get down the line compared to the Yankees. The difference is like night and day. We just don’t have many fast runners… It’s hard to get 250 pounds of beef to sprint. Even our smaller guys just aren’t built for speed…

I agree. Boston makes you pay for poor pitches. We foul them back or hit ground balls.

My wonder is, Boone managed those 2018 and 2019 clubs and no way in heck did they play this poorly fundamentally. They won 100 games both years, what changed? Did the players just start tuning out? Baseball is so different than other sports as far as coaching, so it's hard to judge but this aint pretty on anyone, Hal, Cashman, Boone or the players.

I joined a gym recently though! First time in like 15 years!
