I wondered if James Hoyt might have been the son of one of the more forgotten Cy Young Award winners LaMarr Hoyt, who won it in 1983 with the White Sox. He isn't. Nor is he related to Waite Hoyt.
LaMarr Hoyt's career was derailed by consistent drug problems. A forerunner of Steve Howe.
