Montgomery was pulled in the fifth inning with the bases loaded, when he had only given up one run? So, starting pitchers can face adversity for four innings, but not five? When will they allow these guys to learn how to string innings together? To take something off of pitches after the first two times through the order? Boone keep talking about the big picture, but only in terms of health and rest, not regarding refining one's craft or learning on the job. Lunacy.

Meanwhile the bullpen is tired.

In his brief call ups this season, Abreu has 12 strikeouts in 12.2 innings, a 2.13 ERA and a WHIP of 0.711. Abreu didn't look overwhelmed like he did last season. He has a great arm and he's out of options after this season, I'd rather find out what we have in him than waste time with a guy like Wilson. That’s what I’ve been preaching, since the Yankees signed Justin Wilson. I was fine with O’Day as a more economical replacement for Ottavino, but I never understood the Wilson signing.

Can run the bases and is intense doesn't sound like Yankee traits to me. It used to be.

Maybe Prodigy was an amoeba?… Was Prodigy a predecessor to fanhome? Same posters? Not that I know of. Was fanhome actually a predecessor to Scout? … It’s sort of like evolution on general. A lot of lives that started in a lot of warm puddles. Most perished shortly thereafter. The ones that survived began to reproduce and to morph into newer forms. Some would selectively survive in many different areas of the world. Some would stop advancing, some would be consumed by others. Anyway. Prodigy required something like a $15 membership in the beginning. Many commenters were people that found away to invade the system. They’d be caught and then come back with a new avatar over snd over. After a few years Prodigy stopped charging for the membership, as they wanted the membership numbers to drive advertising to pay for the forum costs and their “very modest” profit. I guess it died off a few years before I found Pinstripes Plus. I don’t think there was any direct link. That makes me the missing link. I always suspected it…

My first season on the Prodigy Boards was 1990… So that’s 31 years ago… Sarah and I bought our first computer in 1993, I think. We were hooked up for Internet access not long afterward, so I started in Yankee Forums around that same time. My username has always been some form of Rizzuto, and when I first started posting, I’d write really long, Baseball Almanac researched posts on WordPerfect, then copy and paste them onto whatever platform was there. Of course, I suffered through two hour posts that were lost before I could hit send because of glitches with the computer or the dial-up service. It only took me a few of those (slow learner) to start writing them on a word processor first. Also, after attending a MLB game, I’d write really long narratives and reviews on the game and the ballpark. One of my longest and most time-consuming posts was probably an argument on why Nolan Ryan belonged in the Hall of Fame. Does anyone recall who argued that Ryan didn’t deserve that honor? Was it JWild, maybe?
