Sounds like a plan. Happy birthday to your sister! What did ya cook? My sister is easy to please and asks for the same thing each year for her birthday: grilled ranch-flavored hamburgers, chili dogs, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, guacamole, salsa, and pineapple upside down cake. Last night, I made chicken enchiladas, salsa, and guacamole, and prepared the hamburger patties, so they could marinate overnight, and that took care of preparation for three items for today. If it would have rained today, I would have cooked crawfish etouffee, rice, cornbread, corn maque choux, and a cucumber and tomato salad with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I was hoping it would rain, but it was nice, albeit hot day. Sounds delicious! You're quite the cook! Respect!

Hike time for me. I'm not terribly concerned about possibly missing a bit of game two. I’m off to the neighbor hood pot luck barbecue without a care in the world. Our present and our future is in Nestor’s hands… he’s strong… Have fun inger!

I particularly love cooking for friends and really miss cooking for Sarah. There is a friend of mine in California who I really miss cooking with. He’s a caterer, and he and I laugh and joke the entire time we’re together. I’ve helped him several times when he was short handed for benefits, and we have a blast, even though it’s hard work. He used to do a public access cooking show called Dude Food, and he and I were going to start doing the show together, but I left California before we could do so.

Think they can trump up an injury for Chapman and let some pitching coach guru fix him.

Wish I could cook and entertain, but apparently I get in on my looks alone… 😂 I'm like you. I love eating but I'm terrible at cooking. I have a lot of respect for a guy, like Rizzuto who cook up a full course meal for family/friends.

As my wife used to say, “It’s not rocket surgery.” Just start small by finding something you like to eat, then research some well reviewed recipes or watch a YouTube demonstration. Even making your own salad dressings or making dishes with only a few ingredients is a good plan to start. Just be positive and know that by sheer repetition, you’ll get better. You just may surprise yourself!

I am a pretty fair mixologist, though. So between the two of us, we cover the sustenance issue thoroughly.

My sister told me that I was cooking breakfast by myself long before I could see over the stove. I cannot recall the first time I cooked something on my own. I also like making cocktails, more than drinking them actually.

Obviously a gross generalization, but it seems to me that more men from Mediterranean backgrounds-- Italian, French, Greek, even extending to Egyptian and Moroccan and Lebanese -- are more apt to cook than those from colder climates. Or maybe it's just that food in general is more important to Mediterranean people. I guess I enjoy making cocktails for myself as much as for others. I love the history of mixed drinks and have a pretty decent library on the subject. There are few artifacts in Western culture that I find as aesthetically pleasing as a Martini glass.

It’s also true of south Louisiana, where people live to eat, rather than eat to live. Jerry Jeff Walker had a song called It Don’t Matter, where he expressed that sentiment well:
Oh these days, I'm a nervous wreck, Trying to live my life so politically correct Don't smoke here, don't you stand over there Drink bottled water, don't you breathe the air World's so crowded, you can't hardly move Everybody telling you what to do People relax, give each other room Let me tell you what all the Cajuns like to do
Chorus: Down in Louisiana, it don't matter If you're sane as a judge, mad as a hatter People down there, they don't ever stay blue Cause they just ate or they're fixin' to They party all night, it makes you feel right The Big Easy knows that you just gotta let go
Skinny or fatter, natty or tattered Down in Louisiana, it don't matter Down in Louisiana, it don't matter
Let me tell you how it is in New Orleans Life revolves around a lot of rice and beans They like to share a laugh and tell you what they mean They always have a smile on their face for everyone they meet Live and let live is the way that they do Have the neighbors over for some alligator stew Crawfish etoufee, Rockin' Doopsie plays Next thing you know all your troubles fly away
