Kikuchi is a lefty and something people say to babies. Hopefully, our righty dominant lineup will take advantage. With three more 5-5 games, Voit could be leading the league in batting average, theoretically. Kudos to Taillon who provided the bullpen with some needed rest last night. Sandwich had a poor night with the bat, though he did get on base via walks. We need him to stay consistent for the entire second half to have a shot.

Taillon, Tailloff It’s all about the stage of evolution… I agree with the assessment that Sanchez must be consistent in the second half for us to have a chance. If he could consistently hit a three-run home run in each of the remaining games, we’d have a chance… no pressure, Gary… Any way.., we need a better German than the one that’s been showing up lately… If not, it’ll be time for Chad Green to grind out another 3 inning performance with no show of emotion…

German Potato Salad has five quality starts this season; however, his last one was on May 20. And, the last time German pitched five or more innings was June 6. Boone has not allowed German to throw 100 pitches yet. In fact, German has exceeded 90 pitches only three times this season. I wonder if Boone understands just how shop worn this bullpen will be, even if we make the playoffs. Of course, with only 14.4% of all MLB starters reaching 100 pitches in games this season, perhaps the Yankees won’t be the only rag-armed pen by that time. In fact, that’s exactly what’s happening to the Chicago right now. The Cubs are not hitting consistently, and their bullpen is no longer lights out like it was earlier this season.

Yusei “I Only Hear What I Want To” Kikuchi has a 3.18 ERA, a WHIP of 1.029, and had allowed only 65 hits in 93.1 innings with 93 strikeouts. Rock solid numbers. In 15 starts, he’s given up 15 home runs. In his last 4 starts and 26.2 innings, Kikuchi has only allowed a total of 3 earned runs, throwing 7 innings thrice. He has allowed more than 3 earned runs only twice this season, the last time on April 23. Those numbers got Kikuchi chosen for the MLB All-Star Game.

Ok boys, let's make it 3 in a row! It's going to be tough against Kikuchi, so German needs to pick up his game.

The pitchers definitely have to go longer. And Boone has to let them. German needs to up his game. If Cole can get right, Montgomery stays consistent, and Taillon's resurgence is real, we can put a run together.
Hopefully, we build on yesterday's offensive success. Hopefully, this is not a one step forward, two steps back game. I don't want to see German go out there and give up 3 runs in the first.

1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 2B 2. Aaron Judge (R) RF 3. Gary Sanchez (R) C 4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH 5. Luke Voit (R) 1B 6. Gleyber Torres (R) SS 7. Gio Urshela (R) 3B 8. Brett Gardner (L) CF 9. Tim Locastro (R) LF
I don’t understand sitting Andujar against a lefty and starting Gardner, when you have Locastro to man centerfield. Surprised Boone didn’t rest Voit and start Odor.

One of the advantages of getting Locastro is that you don’t have to play Gardner vs. LHP. He used to hang in pretty well vs. LHP, but not so much any more… The only reason to put them on the field together is to improve OF defense. So from that standpoint, it’s not the end of the world… Andujar’s bat came to life a while back, but he’s gone pretty cold again…

Can't have Gardner sitting two days in a row, God forbid. Well at least inger will be happy. He'll be in tears of happiness from all grittiness and guttiness of that LF and CF combination.
