Good outing overall for Monty. He was able to settle down after a couple of bad pitches early. Wish our bats weren't sleepwalking.

Growing up alone in the sticks, I spent hours hitting rocks with an ancient Louisville Slugger bat with duct tape around the barrel. I watched my silhouette, fascinated by the look of a level bat arc, with the aim of having the rock hit the mailbox, a tree across the road, telephone poles, and the actual telephone wires, which would produce a high pitched sound like a rifle shot. When I first experienced a real pitched ball at school during recess and PE, I was amazed at how easy it was to hit the ball where I wanted. Having 20-10 vision helped, too. I wonder who the better baseball player was, young inger or young rizzuto? Similar experiences it seems. Did you get a lot of notoriety with your famous last name?
I spent most of my youth shooting hoops.
I didn’t have a basketball goal until I was about ten years old. After that, I shot until I couldn’t see due to darkness. Not until I moved to California did my name become a conversation starter. Inger and I would have gotten along well, as I hated playing the outfield, so no competition for positioning. Also, Inger would have batted lead off, which I think he would have liked. You’d have wanted me batting second or third, pitching, and playing third or first. Although, when I was in college, I played shortstop for the first time during intramurals and loved it. Didn’t Renfield pitch, too? We would have had a good 1-2 punch. Not sure where Renfield played when he wasn’t on the mound. What position would Pipps man? Is CHI and outfielder or infielder? How can we not know our own teammates?

We need a grand slam in the ninth to tie, now.

I made a baseball lineup of all our posters one time. I'll have to dig it up. I think I did make you SS based off your last name. Maybe I should move you to 3B or 1st. Its cool to hear about your old days of playing. Thanks for sharing!

We have a six and a half year age difference (he's younger) so it wasn't much of a battle. Usually just me backing him down like Shaq and then going to the short jump hook 2 feet from the basket. I also had a move mimicking Kobe where I dribbled the ball between my legs twice and then bounced it off his butt and drove to the basket. Good times bullying my younger brother.
I like to think all the bullying toughened him up enough for him to play football in high school.

Graveman sounds like a minor character from "The Munsters."

What if members of heamyha were a baseball team? What would be the batting order? 1. CF kaybli: Most posts or ABs means first in the order 2. 3B noetsi: Perfect position to lay down a bunt and stay on top of things 3. 1B pippsheadache: Of course he has to play 1B like Wally Pipp and be given a prominent position in the lineup 4. LF inger: Colorado funnyman batting cleanup, posts often coming out of left field, prone to Plantar Assitis 5. DH GreatFatness: Protecting inger with more hilarious content 6. SS rizzuto: Witty master of puns protects GF 7. RF CHIYANKEE: Chicago Neil Young Lover with strongest arm on the team 8. C michcusejoe5: Argumentative yet lovable hard hitting catcher 9. 2B domeplease: Speed threat for use in circular lineup. PED usage. Bench: maizeyankee: formerly prolific poster, now part time player desousa: mutli-position jack of all trades Renfield: other half of the inger comedic platoon bluemarlin: up and coming prospect uehara1: spot starter Injured List: sierchio: traded to Pittsburgh? anthonyd: carpal tunnel syndrome from late night posts acuraman: blocked from posting at work because this is classified as a porn site numbers: burnt chest from ironing shirt while wearing it yankee89: broke rib from sneeze bearman: cut finger playing with drone Retired: utahyankee: lost another one to the political thread! chuckthblade: focusing on his announcing career Feel free to submit your own lineups!

My oldest brother is 6’5”, sixteen years older than me, and was an Allstate basketball player in high school. He took the same approach when I was 13-14 years old. He used to bounce the ball off my head when I was applying tenacious defense, and elbow and body me to the ground close to the basket, shooting layups and turnaround jump hooks off glass.

But in high school I did play against two guys who later had decent major league careers, Jon Matlack of West Chester Henderson and Andre Thornton of Phoenixville (which later produced Mike Piazza.) I would like to say that I hit two home runs against Matlack, who would later be ROY with the Mets, and robbed Thornton of an extra-base hit, but it would not be true. Matlack no- hit us and my closest encounter with Thornton was watching him step on the third base bag as he rounded the bases after hitting a home run.
