LOL. I'll be back when Inger inevitably re-injures his ass. I never injured anything in those days. If I did, I rubbed some dirt snd spit on it and kept playing…

I’m so glad I went to work today instead of watching this weak effort. What inning did Stanton break up the no hitter? Just curious, it’s sort of meaningless…

I didn’t have a basketball goal until I was about ten years old. After that, I shot until I couldn’t see due to darkness. Not until I moved to California did my name become a conversation starter. Inger and I would have gotten along well, as I hated playing the outfield, so no competition for positioning. Also, Inger would have batted lead off, which I think he would have liked. You’d have wanted me batting second or third, pitching, and playing third or first. Although, when I was in college, I played shortstop for the first time during intramurals and loved it. Didn’t Renfield pitch, too? We would have had a good 1-2 punch. Not sure where Renfield played when he wasn’t on the mound. What position would Pipps man? Is CHI and outfielder or infielder? How can we not know our own teammates? In Little League, Babe Ruth League and high school I played either third or first. Clearly not as good as Rizz, Inger, Renfield and probably others in here. But in high school I did play against two guys who later had decent major league careers, Jon Matlack of West Chester Henderson and Andre Thornton of Phoenixville (which later produced Mike Piazza.) I would like to say that I hit two home runs against Matlack, who would later be ROY with the Mets, and robbed Thornton of an extra-base hit, but it would not be true. Matlack no- hit us and my closest encounter with Thornton was watching him step on the third base bag as he rounded the bases after hitting a home run. Late to the party guys. FYI, played 1B in HS when not pitching. Lefty hitter (and pitcher), not much power but didn't strike out a lot. Very streaky. Line-drive hitter if hot. Dribble out to second or first if not. If desperate, could play RF only because I shagged a lot of fly balls during BP. In college, was a bench-rider when not pitching although I did make it on deck one time when we had burned through our DH in an extra-inning game. Tough game today. Hope the last two weren't just a mirage, but I fear they were.

Im not saying to sell sell sell right now, just that this group has now shown over the last ~140 games that theyre a .500 team. Im not sure they've proven they deserve an investment of reinforcements to go for it this year. Plus I have zero faith in the front office improving what needs to be improved, and that's adding legit SP behind Cole (Like a Berrios,) and one or two lefty bats to balance this lineup out a bit. We haven't seen Cashman do any of those type of big moves in a while, it's usually only a little veteran add here or there, or a bullpen move. And with that the luxury tax bemoaning Hal has done, it's gonna be low cost moves at the deadline. Hope I am wrong. So if it were my choice, I'd stand pat, hope this group gets their head out of their asses and revert back to 2017-19 performance, then revamp this winter rather than see young talent get ushered out for minimal impact adds. At some point this power group of Hal, Cashman and co., will need to make real, impactful decisions. They thought they found their next "core" and it'd be easy street again, welp it hasn't happened. They've all been given plenty of slack for two decades now with not much to show for it.

Maybe add a lefty bat. And if it goes to crap this year and they finish around .500 don't bring back Boone or even Cashman.

Why would you sell when you are a couple games off of the wildcard ? Perhaps I'm too optimistic, give our team too much credit, or am too impatient to wait another year but I tend to agree with anthony, maize. I would wait another couple of weeks to see if we stay in contention or not before thinking about selling. If we were right around the wild card, I would even add pieces if smart trades are available for players that will help us this year and beyond. I don't think it's being too optimistic. They were 2 behind the A's in the loss for the second WC (3 now after today). I think thats too close to be selling the team. Plus with how the baseball playoffs have been the last few years we have had some WC teams that looked like they had no business being in the World Series get there with the most recent being the Nats in 2019. With Cole starting multiple games in a series you always have a shot at it.

Hope the last two weren't just a mirage, but I fear they were. Thank goodness you’re a lefty. I was worried we’d be too right handed, like the current Yankee club. And, as a lefty, we better have you at first when you’re not pitching and have Pipps man third base. I’ll slide over to shortstop, in Urshela/LeMahieu fashion, but I’ll need a full spring training at the position. For those worried about short, just know that as well as Phil Rizzuto, my father and my uncle both were outstanding shortstops in high school and as adults, so it’s in my DNA. Either before or after World War II (not sure of the timing), my father played shortstop on a very good local area fast pitch softball team, which was more popular than baseball in the south in those days. While they were practicing, a local athlete asked the coach if he could try out. The new recruit asked if shortstop was taken. The coach pointed to my father and said there’s the guy you need to unseat for shortstop. When the games began, my father was still the shortstop and Alvin Dark played third base. Of course, Alvin Dark would later have a street named after him at LSU and go on to a long MLB career at shortstop and third base (and a manager) starting in 1946 with the Boston Braves. Dark was a halfback on the LSU football team and played shortstop for LSU and had later transferred to what would be UL at Lafayette to play baseball there. Dark was three years older than my father and from the Lake Charles area.

The only injury that can momentarily sideline Inger. Some have a glass jaw. Some have a glass stomach. Inger somehow developed a glass ass. Inger's as tough as they come but his Achilles Heel is his ass. As The Iliad gave us the mighty Achilles, so HeAmyHa has bestowed the Sombrero-ed Ingerson: each invulnerable with the sole exception of one spot. Of course, Paris had a difficult shot with his bow to strike the small thumb and finger sized area on the heels of Achilles, from which he was held and dipped into the river Styx. (I’m just spitballing here, but I guess it’s possible Inger fell into some area of the Potomac, except for his ass sticking out of the water. No sweat for Paris. Heck, Noetsi could have made that shot. Just doesn’t have the same gravitas as an epic tale.)

Ironically, I later lived in Paris (KY) for a couple of years. You should note that I don’t feature a large rump. It’s been compared to that of Mel Gibson when he was younger and revealed his arse in a movie or two. I disagree that Noetsi could have successfully shot my ass. I think he’d be to polite to look at it…
