I hoped that we would find a way to trade Voit, as we cannot trade Stanton without his consent. Too many right-handed DH types on this roster. It's hard to swallow that barring a trade or career-ending injury, Stanton is our DH through 2027. Where does that leave Judge or Sanchez in their mid-30s, assuming we keep them? Unfortunately, Judge may have to be the centerpiece in a future Mookie Betts type of trade. If I were the Yankees, I’d play Stanton in the field a lot more, rather than keeping him under glass. If he spends more time on the IL, so be it. If he’s going on the IL regularly as a DH, you might as well make use of him while also freeing space to protect other players, too. |

Yanks striking out at a 50% rate. I can see why they wanted to get Gallo. He only strikes out at a 40% rate.

It seems almost incongruous that DJLM would have a 37-game on base streak and still only be hitting in the mid-.260s. And only .291 during the streak, albeit with a .376 OBP. That’s the false equivalence of the metrics-heads that aver a walk is as good as a hit. RBIs generally require hits. As do taking extra bases, defensive boots and bad throws. I agree completely. The analytics addicts sneer at batting averages, but it should be obvious that a walk is NOT as good as a hit in all circumstances. Despite what I said in defense of Gallo, I would still rather his BA be 30 points higher with a 30 point lower OBP if it were possible. Bobby Abreu had a great OBP, but he was not a great hitter. Analytics has become a rigid theology in some circles-- Pinstripe Alley to name one -- but when you wind up defending players on things like xWAR or other arcane formulas, you are losing sight of what is actually happening on the field. |

Noetsi on top of things as usual! Where has he been hiding? Or Sierchio for that matter? Russ dropped in a game ago. Busy with work I believe. Either that or Inger’s occasional bawdy remarks forced a self imposed respite to starve the appetite of the carnal spirit. |
