Two right-handers on the mound tonight in Kansas City. Hopefully, we shall have David Cone - the Kansas City native - on YES with the color commentary. Carlos Hernandez is a big, burly guy with 48 strikeouts in 39.3 pitched; however, he’s only made four starts since being stretched out from his relief role. Also, 24 walks in those 39.3 innings, so the Yankees should be patient. The bad news is his last two starts he tossed 11 innings and allowed only 1 run and a total of 6 hits and 10 strikeouts: both efforts were against the Chicago White Sox. And, the Yankees will field their non-COVID-19 Club. Someone needs step up and carry the offense tonight.
1. Brett Gardner (L) CF 2. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH 3. Aaron Judge (R) RF 4. Joey Gallo (L) LF 5. DJ LeMahieu (R) 2B 6. Luke Voit (R) 1B 7. Andrew Velazquez (S) SS 8. Tyler Wade (L) 3B 9. Kyle Higashioka (R) C

Gleyber Torres to the 10-day Injured List. Covid-19, hamstring, and now his thumb. Wade will probably fill in at shortstop. Odor still makes me nervous at third base. And, Voit at first.

Wish O’Neill was there, too. My preference is a three-person booth.

Poor Flaherty. I prefer him to Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.

Poor Flaherty. I prefer him to Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. Or the ESPN team. Or John Smoltz. Or many others.

Poor Flaherty. I prefer him to Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. Yeah, he’s not that bad. Somebody, somewhere is the world’s least influential nuclear physicist, but he’s still a nuclear physicist. The achievement of becoming a New York Yankees television announcer is not a small one. Somehow becoming a radio announcer is quite a bit easier, but heck… Even Jawn and Suzyn aren’t that bad. They have entertainment value..,

Yet to hit an MLB Home run, but connected for as many as 14 in 2018 for Tampa’s affiliate. Since he’s a switch batter, maybe he’ll run into one in YS3, if he’s around long enough to get to play there. He once stole 50 bases in MiLB, and his 26/3 for our affiliate this year looks good…
