I don’t recall saying he was a better base stealer. I respect Allen’s base stealing skills. Anyway, the primary function of the player is to play versus left hand pitching in a platoon with Gardner. Allen was hitting .185 vs. LHP. I think Davis is about .150 versus LHP. Neither one is very helpful in that respect. The Florial decision is of a different sort. It’s about development. The Yanks experts see a lot more of him, and must feel he needs more time to ready himself for a long term MLB exposure. Given his age and past history, I can see that is likely to be true. I still stand by the decision from a baseball <business> a word you left out of my past quotes, perspective. Neither player is likely to get us too, nor fail to get us to our end season goals… My apologies: You listed Davis’ steals and his times caught in your defense of acquiring him. I then listed those of Allen, which were superior to Davis. Davis is worse against lefties than Allen, which doesn’t support your position, then or now. Listing or not listing the word business makes no difference at all, as it supplies zero explanation for sending down either player who had performed at a .900 OPS clip when the Yankees needed (and still need) offense. How is that beneficial in a business sense, much less a baseball sense? You have zero precognition for what either player would have supplied in the future or to this point. We only know how they had played before being sent down and that they energized the team that was 11-4 with them, leading to shaving games off the AL East lead. Yet, I stubbornly stand by my statement. Watching the game right now, this is for later…

Why didn't Ridings start this inning with a three run lead?
