What a job by Abreu. That should do wonders for his confidence. We need some fresh arms in the big spots. I’d love to see Ridings get a similar chance soon, but not after another pitch has made a mess. You’re right. The three run lead was a great time to get a fresh young pitcher in there in lieu of one that has declared himself to have lost his mojo…

Yankees win. Hopefully when Chapman is back in a few days he's in form he was looking better before going on the IL.

They're finally scoring runs and it's still not easy.

Playoff implications:
Yankees win the season series vs the White Sox taking 4 of the first 5 with 1 to go. Could be important if the Yankees come back for the division cause that would give them a seeding tiebreaker.
Red Sox win big 16-2 A's win 8-3 Rays lose 12-0 Toronto 2-2 against Seattle in 4th
So that puts it at:
Rays 46 losses Astros 46 losses White Sox 49 losses A's 49 losses Red Sox 51 losses Yankees 52 losses Toronto 53 losses Seattle 55 loses
One of Seattle or Toronto will gain a loss before the end of the night.
Just shows how bad luck the Yankees are having a division like this. The White Sox are 10 losses ahead of the next team in their division, but the Yankees are only 3 losses more than the White Sox but still trail the East by 6 games.

They're finally scoring runs and it's still not easy. Maybe because some of our hitters are learning what the strike zone is while our relievers have forgotten. Britton threw 4 out of 14 pitches for a strike. He's a head case right now, but he knows it. Apparently Boone didn't believe him.

"That's tough, tough to swallow your pride, a little bit," Britton said, according to Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News. "I told (Boone) I know what my track record is, but that doesn't mean anything right now. I'm not where I want to be physically; I don't want to lose games with the team in that spot.

They're finally scoring runs and it's still not easy. Judge is definitely hitting.

He might need a trumped up injury to get away for a while.

There are some years when young guys step up to be bigger role players and even future stars. Loaisiga took that step this season, Montgomery was in the process of doing that before the recent COVID mess. Abreu is taking that step of late. So is Gil. I just wish Boone would allow Ridings to do the same, instead of sitting and having no clue as to when he’ll pitch. The same was done with King this season. Allen and Florial appeared ready, but evidently it didn’t really matter how they played. The Yankees used to reward success with more playing time. This iteration of the Yankees is way too smart to let performance sway their opinion of what they expect from the future of a player. Brett Gardner would have never made it to the big leagues with this Yankee brain trust. He would have been traded with three others for Sidney Ponson or something similar.

Ridings has one bad outing and it was like throw him to the wolves.
