I also think he's the only Yankee that gets booed at the Stadium. And he hits the strangest base hits. Who cares if a single was 120 MPH? It’s still just a single. Seldom pulls the ball, but when he does and it’s airborne it can be 470 feet or so. Instead, he punches those quick screamers to right or left that clear the wall by an inch and destroy the seats. It’s just weird… I wonder if anyone in the history of the game hits the ball consistently as hard as Stanton?

Dick Allen, Frank Howard, Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth. Should I add Reggie? Probably not. But those guys evoked stories that the ball came off the bat with incredible speed. They have to remain the stuff of legends, I suppose. I don’t think there will ever be a way to prove that anyone before Stanton had that superpower…
